Spring Pagodas

Southern Living Spring Collection Small Pagoda Lantern in Pink

Just in time for Spring and Easter, I have found the prettiest pagoda lanterns in the softest Spring pastels. Use them on the dining table, entryway table, sideboard, or anywhere with LED battery candles.

The Red & Pink Chinoiserie Dining Room

House Beautiful

I was thinking yesterday about upcoming posts for Valentine's Day. I came across this chinoiserie dining room in pink and red that I posted on several years ago. The room was featured in the December/January 2014 issue of House Beautiful. Such pretty Valentine's Day inspiration.

Blue and White

Coco and Dash

Is there anything prettier than a grouping of blue and white Chinese porcelain? This is at a store in Dallas named Coco and Dash. I love the little citrus plant in a blue and white cachepot. I have a pair of those little blue and white pagodas that I got years ago.

The Blue and White Pergola

Mark Sikes - Veranda

This pergola was an addition to Liz Lange's renovation of Grey Gardens in East Hampton, New York. I spent my summers during college in the Hamptons. I never understood why it is spelled Southampton and Westhampton but then spelled East Hampton. A mystery. At any rate, this blue and white patio is so pretty.

A Sneak Peek - Christmas @ CCC

CCC

I finished the ornaments for my two Amanda Lindroth wicker pagodas. I used real red coral, real pink sea urchins, and miniature Christmas ornaments. Oh, and a couple pairs of my earrings - Mignonne Gavigan lobster claws and J.Crew coral.

Christmas Decorating Plans @ CCC

Amanda Lindroth

Now that Halloween is over, I have turned to my Christmas decorating plans at CCC.

I have a pair of the large wicker Amanda Lindroth pagodas pictured in the center. They are absolutely humongous - bigger than they look above - about three feet tall and a foot and a half wide. I decided I would love to decorate them for Christmas for my foyer.

Sancerre Cashmere Sweater

I have posted before about this very Chinoiserie Chic Farm Rio dress below that is a favorite of mine with its gorgeous print of blue and white flora and pagodas.

The Blue and White Dining Room

Phoebe Howard

This blue and white dining room is so pretty and so achievable. I love the striped rug - I would use a polypropylene indoor/outdoor rug so there is no worry about spills. I have two Annie Selke Dash & Albert ones and love that they can be hosed down outside to clean. They are indestructible.

Mary McDonald

Pagoda are so quintessentially Chinoiserie Chic and if you love chinoiserie, you likely have one or more in your home. Here are some great pagoda picks.

Chinoiserie in DC

Pamela Black and Don Love - Veranda

I had to share this fabulous chinoiserie filled apartment in Foggy Bottom in DC. Foggy Bottom is home to the Watergate, the Kennedy Center, the State Department, and George Washington University. I went to GW for law school, my late husband was living in Foggy Bottom when we met and until we married, and we were members of the Kennedy Center for decades.

Beaded Pagodas

CCC Alexandria

Many of you commented on my beaded pagodas that I posted on the other day. They are Bunny Williams for Ballard Designs. Here are the smaller version I purchased several years back and are unfortunately no longer available. They are now in my master bedroom. I have enjoyed using things in the new house in different rooms and in different ways. It makes everything seem fresh instead of just a repeat of the previous house. These photos are from the dining room in my home in Alexandria. The diffuser and candle are from Charlotte Moss' long shuttered shop in Manhattan.

A Chinoiserie Christmas

Matthew Monroe Bees - House Beautiful

In his Charleston home, this interior designer places his Christmas tree in a blue and white Chinese fish bowl. He says it leaves more room for presents and elevates the tree making it look more grand. OK you smart people, this looks to be a cut tree and tree stands tend to have larger bases with wider legs. I would love to know how he secured the tree.

Here's a cute idea by Amanda Lindroth - she has decorated her wicker pagodas (this is her Charleston store) with miniature red Christmas ornaments. I would love to hear ideas from you on how you combine Christmas and Chinoiserie in your home.

Palm Beach Chinoiserie

House Beautiful

Enjoy the amazing Chinoiserie filled Palm Beach apartment of British artist and designer Aldous Bertram from the April issue of House Beautiful. It is replete with hand painted walls, Quadrille fabrics, a Chinese temple, foo dogs, blue and white Chinese porcelain, de Gournay geese, pagodas, Chinese engravings, and more! This place is fun. Lots of great vintage Chinoiserie that I adore. What do you think?

Palm Beach Chinoiserie Chic

Mario Buatta - Architectural Digest
I am in the midst of house hunting in Florida and love the idea of a Chinoiserie filled living room like this - note the pair of pagodas, the fabulous pair of Blanc de Chine planters, and the Chinese garden stool.

A stunning pair of blue and white pagodas and a blue and white Chinese vase filled with hydrangeas are gorgeous with this pair of green Quadrille pillows.
