J.Crew Original 1988 Rollneck Sweater

 

I have been a fan of J.Crew for decades. I am super excited that they have brought back a favorite - their iconic cotton rollneck sweater originally introduced in the summer of 1988. This is a great summer sweater. I plan to size up to wear it as a coverup for breezy days at the beach and boating. I would size up if you want an oversized relaxed look - the reviews says they have sized this down a bit.

"First introduced in 1988, the classic style is back in a comfortable-yet-compact cotton that we borrowed from our men's collection (and we love for its long-lasting quality). It comes in a subtly relaxed fit, with ribbed trim at the cuffs and hem and an easy roll at the neckline that earned the sweater its name."

I came across this picture of the foyer in the Connecticut home of Bunny Williams and John Rosselli. If you look closely you will see a white obelisk just inside the door. I have what looks to be the same one that I picked up years ago at a favorite vintage store in McLean, Virginia.

The other day I posted about this wicker urn I had just found at HomeGoods. Yesterday I was looking at my feed on Instagram and I saw this photo below.

Slim Aarons

I am a huge fan of the photography of Slim Aarons and have two at CCC. Slim Aarons was an American photographer known for photographing socialites, jet-setters, and celebrities. Interestingly, he never used a stylist or makeup artist. His most famous quote is that he liked "photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places." Many of his iconic photographs were taken in Palm Springs in the 1950s to 1970s.

My newest addition to my mini rattan beach house is this pair of Chinese panels. The panels are over 100 year old antique Chinese embroidered silk. They feature beautiful exotic climbing tropical plants and even a palm tree. I made them from remnants from an antique kimono.

The wool needlepoint rug is vintage from an estate. It is circa 1981 and dated and signed by the creator.

Here is the newest member of the wicker menagerie at CCC. I had planned to paint him, but the finish is in such great condition he is staying white. I love leaving original finishes when I can - he is from the 1970s BTW. The term vintage applies to pieces that are over 40 years old.

When I was a teenager, one of my prized possessions was my collection of Pappagallo flower ballet flats in a rainbow of colors that I would coordinate daily with my outfit. Boy did I love those shoes. They were all lined with a mattress ticking stripe that was a trademark of these shoes.

I am an avid animal lover and not a fan of real mounts of any kind, so this is such a fun and cruelty free alternative that I love.

 I had to share a wonderful vintage find of my daughter's this week. She and her fiancé love vintage pieces and are filling their new home in Annapolis, Maryland with them. She found this vintage wicker china cabinet on Facebook Marketplace at a Delaware beach house.

I so love this feminine and eclectic bedroom in a wonderful color palette of coral pink and green. The coral chest is vintage. I adore the wicker pagoda canopy - it was a Round Top find originally in a Florida department store window display in the 1960's. Most accessories are vintage finds. The magnolia wallpaper is Thibaut found on eBay.

I really love this eclectic dining room in the Regent Park London flat of interior designer Emma Grant. The chairs are vintage bamboo. The curved marble topped table is 19th century. This wonderful table reminds me of a grand piano. The high ceilings and millwork are stunning.
