The Breakfast Room Before & Sneak Peek

CCC

I am fortunate in my Florida home to have several options for dining - there is the dining room, the breakfast room, the breakfast bar, and the lanai.

The breakfast room has my Warren Platner table and Chinese Chippendale chairs from my previous Alexandria home. The beaded and tasseled chandelier is from Ballard Designs. The tulipiere oil painting is from a favorite shop in Alexandria, Virginia now long gone called The Pineapple. It hung in my foyer in Alexandria.

I had a fun day styling the breakfast room yesterday. But it was a rare rainy day yesterday, so I deferred taking photos until today with natural light. I promise photos tomorrow.

Here is another view of the room before. It's quite spacious.

Here is a sneak peek ----

A CCC Vignette

CCC

This is a favorite vignette of mine in the foyer at CCC - I love the combination of the black and gold Chinoiserie chest, ginger jars, and seashells. Everything is vintage and repurposed from my home in Alexandria. The chest holds all of my placemats and napkins BTW.

Did you read that Mick Jagger and his girlfriend bought a home in Sarasota? Will there be a Rolling Stones concert in my future?

Beaded Pagodas

CCC Alexandria

Many of you commented on my beaded pagodas that I posted on the other day. They are Bunny Williams for Ballard Designs. Here are the smaller version I purchased several years back and are unfortunately no longer available. They are now in my master bedroom. I have enjoyed using things in the new house in different rooms and in different ways. It makes everything seem fresh instead of just a repeat of the previous house. These photos are from the dining room in my home in Alexandria. The diffuser and candle are from Charlotte Moss' long shuttered shop in Manhattan.

The Chinoiserie Kitchen

Debi Davis

I had a crazy busy but wonderful weekend. I spent Sunday looking at neighborhoods in Venice and decided conceptually what I want which is the complete opposite of what I live in now. I have a large house and large yard and am not close to downtown Sarasota. I want something small and very chic and close to the heart of Venice.

And yesterday I directed from 1000 miles away clearing out what's left in the Alexandria house so I don't have to return for closing. Luckily my daughter Kate is nearby there.

And I am starting to put together ideas for my new house. I love this kitchen. I love an all white kitchen - I always have. These lucite counter stools are amazing. And that kitchen hood and the blue and white Chinese porcelain. Wow. Any guesses on what the countertops are?

A smaller house is much more my style. Golf Guy is a McMansion away from the city fan and I like something small and historic and very close in. I lived in Georgetown in DC during law school and for the past 20 years lived in Belle Haven in Alexandria. Moreover, too many guest bedrooms encourages too many guests! (Especially when you live in Florida)
