Porcelain Pink Doll Pumpkins

 
I decided to run into my new Sprouts this morning to check out their heirloom pumpkins. They were gorgeous. I have never seen such beautiful pumpkins anywhere. I found two pink and two blue! (I also went to Aldi next door and got tons of wonderful German imported items for my Oktoberfest party on Friday).

The pink pumpkins are quite new to the market. It is hard to believe they are real. Here they are at CCC-

Be sure to give your pumpkins a nice little bath or a wipe down with a soft cloth with soap and water when you get them home. First, lots of marks on them are just soil and such and wipe right off. Second, they will last much longer because it removes bacteria which can lead to rot. 

The blue-gray pumpkins are Jarrahdale and Blue Doll. The pink are called Porcelain Doll and they are a gorgeous salmon pink - one of my favorite colors and so perfect for Florida! They were bred in Arizona to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Technically the Blue Doll and Porcelain Pink Doll are hybrids as they are crosses of heirloom varieties.

I will do another Sprouts run this week for more of the pink and may add some white. As I have said before, they last 6 to 12 months, especially if protected as mine are. Last year I kept them for 4 months and they were all still perfect. 

I was on Instagram and the number of pumpkins people are using for their entrances is wild. I remember you use to buy one or two pumpkins - in lots of photos there are dozens. I guess I can get a few more....
