Palm Beach Chinoiserie

House Beautiful

Enjoy the amazing Chinoiserie filled Palm Beach apartment of British artist and designer Aldous Bertram from the April issue of House Beautiful. It is replete with hand painted walls, Quadrille fabrics, a Chinese temple, foo dogs, blue and white Chinese porcelain, de Gournay geese, pagodas, Chinese engravings, and more! This place is fun. Lots of great vintage Chinoiserie that I adore. What do you think?

  1. I think it's great! So many details I love and try to replicate in a much smaller way. So glad you're back!

    1. Thank you. This is actually quite a small rental apartment - such an amazing transformation!

  2. You need to take part in a contest for one of the highest

  4. I've been catching up on posts and am so relieved that you landed on your feet, Beth. I have a question: do you ever invite your blog followers to submit photos of their own forays into chinoiserie? I'm just completing my bedroom refresh with lots of chinoiserie elements and I'd love to see other people's too. Just a thought! Christine

  5. Thanks for your comment. I do get requests and have always stayed away from it because then people might get offended if I don't use their submission. It is not just a matter of their design, but also photography. Each time I participated in the One Room Challenge I hired a professional photographer. It is hard to photograph a room well.
