I love using chinoiserie in my garden at CCC. I have shared before that I have lots of blue and white Chinese garden stools and ginger jars in my garden. A new addition is a chinoiserie garden flag. Blue and white ikat and chinoiserie are a wonderful combination. Above is a rare Schumacher ikat ginger jar along with matching ikat china in my lanai at CCC.

My second mahjong class was yesterday. I must admit that I am learning more from my free online mahjong sources than the in person classes. Having taught both landscape design and wine classes, I know that being an expert in a subject and being able to share that knowledge with others are two different things.

I came across this very pretty picture of mahjong tiles in a lovely chinoiserie bowl. I am sure that the lucite boxes that mahjong companies sell are the preferred way to store and display your mahjong tiles, but I love this bowl idea. Lots of people do use decorative bowls for storing and displaying their tiles. Crystal bowls are a popular choice, but I would prefer a chinoiserie option. Mahjong did indeed originate in China.
