Palms & Pineapples

Echo Palma Paradise Caftan

I love this chic caftan with some of my favorite tropical things - palms and pineapples. This can be worn as a dress or a coverup. With sheer dresses, all you need is a nude slip. I would wear this with gold sandals and a straw bag. It would also be great over a pair of slacks.

Coastal Pineapples

Pineapple Pillow in Turquoise

I love pineapple decor. I find it amusing that when I was in historic homes in Alexandria, Virginia, I always associated pineapple decor with Colonial Williamsburg and decorating traditional homes. It was not until I moved to Florida that I realized pineapple decor is huge in beach houses and tropical decor.

Setting the Summer Table - Pineapples

Lenox British Colonial and Wicker Creek

Several people asked about the pineapples in the table setting in yesterday's post. The great news is that they too are Lenox and are available and are even on sale.

Pink Pineapples

Milos Smocked Bandeau Swimsuit

I love decorating with pineapples at CCC, so why not pineapples for my wardrobe? This swimsuit is darling with its pink pineapples and I love a strapless suit - no strap marks.

Pineapples

Lulu de Kwiatkowski - Veranda Magazine

The entrance at textile designer Lulu DK's Bahamian home really embraces pineapples. I always associated pineapples with Colonial Williamsburg decor, and didn't realize until more recently how much they are used in tropical, beachy, island decor.

Christmas This and That & Last Minute Gifts

A Rainy Day @ CCC

It was a rare rainy day here in paradise yesterday. A light lovely rain all afternoon and early evening. It has been almost three months since Hurricane Ian and my garden has completely recovered and is more beautiful than ever. I think there is some truth to coming back stronger after adversity. The palms and plants are proof of that with their gorgeous plush new growth.

Styling the Kitchen

Amanda Lindroth - Veranda

This Bahamian kitchen featured in the new Veranda is quite fabulous. The wallpaper is de Gournay's Amazonia in turquoise. Note the pink La Cornue range. The wallpaper above the range is protected by a plexiglass panel. I love the wicker stools and lighting fixture (Soane Britain). This is a white kitchen that certainly doesn't feel sterile!

Pineapples for the Thanksgiving Table

CCC

Pineapples are a favorite motif of mine and I have many in my home. They have long been a symbol of welcome and hospitality and are so perfect for the Thanksgiving table. I have rounded up some favorites and some ideas.

Tropical/Colonial

Colonial Williamsburg

My daughter Kate is in Williamsburg for a few days. Colonial Williamsburg at Christmas is so charming. She took some photos yesterday and this one really caught my eye. I have posted before about how pineapples play a big role in both tropical and colonial decorating.

Here is another example - wicker. I love the wicker bells - vintage ones are easily found on Etsy. With some tweaking, this wreath would be great for tropical decor as well - perhaps with sea shells or palm fronds. This door apparently won a blue ribbon.

Pineapple Passion

CCC

As you know, I love tropical pineapples and these are both HomeGoods finds. Above is a dog bed I found yesterday for the pups. They both love it. They have to take turns though - it is probably meant for a kitty.

The one below is a laundry basket. Both are that plastic wicker that will not mold or mildew and can be hosed down. So fun!

Halloween at CCC

CCC

I love decorating for Halloween. I received my John Derian black weeping willow from Target yesterday and it joins my Target skull pineapples. So fun!

I love my blue pumpkin - I would like a couple more, but this is the only one that I have found so far. I got it a couple of weeks ago and there is zero deterioration to date. One trick I read to prevent rotting is to clean it with a Clorox or antibacterial wipe which I didn't have, so I washed it with soap and water and rubbed it down with hand sanitizer - LOL. True story.

Tropical Pineapples

Lyford Cay

I have an absolute thing for pineapples - I have lots in my home. Pineapples can go two ways - that whole Colonial Williamsburg look or a Hollywood Regency, Palm Beach, Chinoiserie Chic vibe, the latter being what I like.

Here is what I'm talking about below, also at Lyford Cay.

Here is some inspiration for adding pineapples the way I like them to your home. Here's a great party idea - paint pineapples in fun colors  -

Tropical Pineapples

Amanda Lindroth

I must admit I have a thing for pineapples in decorating. Not the Colonial Williamsburg look, but pineapples with a tropical island vibe. This is a fabulous example - large and dramatic and with beautiful detailing.

Target was selling these Nate Berkus ones a few years ago and I got a bunch. That Nate Berkus line for Target was really excellent.
