A Rainy Day @ CCC |
It was a rare rainy day here in paradise yesterday. A light lovely rain all afternoon and early evening. It has been almost three months since Hurricane Ian and my garden has completely recovered and is more beautiful than ever. I think there is some truth to coming back stronger after adversity. The palms and plants are proof of that with their gorgeous plush new growth.
I saw this on Instagram yesterday and laughed so hard. Please read the text. House Beautiful posted this.
House Beautiful Instagram |
OK, so the person at House Beautiful who does their Instagram account does not know enough to call this a Chinese fishbowl or a Chinese porcelain planter and the best they could come up with was a "painted vessel"????? Hysterical.
Charlotte Moss posted this on Instagram. I love the pineapple. Pineapples, a symbol of welcome and hospitality, work beautifully with traditional decor and tropical decor. This is wonderful inspiration for Christmas decorating - a beautiful urn with a pineapple, Christmas greens and pinecones. Pineapples are so reasonably priced down here.

I love the pictures of your home! I think you should publish a book with pictures of your home and call it: My Joyful Home. You could provide ideas on how to make our homes joyful. I see signs all the time about "My Happy Place." However, your posts have inspired me to create "My Joyful Place" which is whimsical yet tasteful, giddy yet peaceful when needed, artistic yet warm and inviting. I read your blog everyday and you have helped me create a joyful home. I wish I could post pictures of your inspirations. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet of you and I am so happy you have been inspired. Merry Christmas!
DeleteYes, the term used "painted Vessel" is totally cray-cray - BUT - I have to THANK YOU for publishing that pic on your site either earlier last year or before ? - BECAUSE I then copied that idea and used one of my FishBowls (painted vessel-lol) as a base for one of my Christmas Tree's and LOVE it. This is my 2nd year doing so - and it will continue. So - KUDOS for posting that pic for my inspiration ! Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteI saw you show this photo of the tree in the Chinese planter and did it this year with my tree. Looks great a lifts up the tree.
ReplyDeleteI am going to do it next year with a second tree. I love the look.
DeleteHouse Beautiful...their glory days are gone. But your house is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much and House Beautiful is very disappointing now.
DeleteWell, at least the tree in the "painted vessel" is lovely to look at.
ReplyDeleteTrue!
DeletePainted vessel indeed. Good grief. I love the tree in that planter and next year I am going to give it a whirl.....but I cannot figure out how to secure it so that it does not fall to one side or the other. I will spend some time Googling and see what I learn. Merry Christmas, Beth!!!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how to do it for both small and large trees and plan to do it myself next year. I will do a detailed post, but for a smaller tree you use an inner bucket with stones or gravel and secure around the pail stuffing in padding - garbage bags or moving blankets for example. For a large tree, the inner pail gets a pvc pipe in the center to fit the tree bottom on and then fill with quick concrete and then secure around the pail as above.
