Santa Claus (& John Derian) Coming to Town

John Derian for Target

Decoupage master John Derian has been doing wonderful collaborations with Target since 2008. You may recall recent Halloween and Thanksgiving collabs that were fantastic. His latest one for the upcoming holidays may be my favorite ever. It is like walking into his fabulous shop in NOHO in NYC but at much nicer prices. It launches overnight tonight at 3 a.m. EDT. From pillows to lamps to linens to ornaments and more, this launch is amazing. And many many items are under $15.

There are pieces for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (and Christmas gift giving too). Not sure if you need to be up at 3 a.m. or not - in the past, yes as some items sold out. But I highly recommend shopping online with free shipping for $35 orders or more as opposed to lining up on Sunday morning in person with people grabbing everything to resell online. Also, some items are only sold online. Save this post to quickly go to the items you want when you do shop.

Studio McGee for Target Christmas Launch

Studio McGee for Target Holiday

The always popular Studio McGee Holiday Collection for Target launches overnight tonight at 3 a.m. EDT, which is why I am posting now for any of you night owls. I will be up because I am determined to get the wicker tree collar pictured above before it sells out. I have no clue why their designer collaboration launches have always been in the middle of the night.

Sneak Peek - Kate Spade X Target

Kate Spade New York X Target

I have been a Kate Spade fan for decades and I love Target's designer collaborations. Great news! Target is launching a Kate Spade collaboration on April 12 featuring fashion, home and entertaining items. The limited-time collection features more than 300 products, including women’s, kids’ and baby apparel in extended sizes and adaptive styles. The line will also offer handbags, home accessories and larger items, such as a tent and a bicycle.

Prices start at $5 and more than half the collection will cost $15 or less. (Wonderful in these crazy economic times). The line will be available in-store and online, but some items — such as a small capsule of Target red handbags — will only be available for in person shopping.

New John Derian Thanksgiving for Target

John Derian Thanksgiving Collection

Just launched - the newest John Derian Thanksgiving Collection for Target. His collection last year was wildly popular.

Designer John Derian has a passion for vintage illustration, drawn to 18th and 19th century imagery of the natural world. Collaborating with Target in a limited-time collection, these gorgeous and giftable pieces are sure to find a favored place at any holiday celebration.

John Derian is an American decoupage artist and designer living in New York City whose aesthetic encapsulates a curious mix of natural oddities, antiques and eccentricities.

John Derian has been sharing his passion for beautiful, yet functional products as part of the Target family for over a decade. His one-of-a-kind, unique taste and sense of humor made him the perfect partner to bring joy to this year’s Thanksgiving celebrations.

Many pieces from his Thanksgiving Collection from last year are highly collectible selling on eBay for huge prices. I am especially obsessed with the pillows and the cabbage ware pieces - so fun and fabulous.

Christmas with Studio McGee for Target

Studio McGee Wicker Christmas Trees

This collection just launched at 3 am ET - that is why I am posting now. I am not normally up at this time, but CAT 4/5? Hurricane Milton is headed right here mid week and I have been checking for updates. This incredibly rare storm formed in the Pacific, hopped over Mexico, and now is intensifying in the Gulf.

The irony that John Milton's greatest poem is Paradise Lost is not lost on me. Two timely quotes -

“What hath night to do with sleep?”
― John Milton, Paradise Lost

“Into this wild Abyss/ The womb of Nature, and perhaps her grave--/ Of neither sea, nor shore, nor air, nor fire,/ But all these in their pregnant causes mixed/ Confusedly, and which thus must ever fight,/ Unless the Almighty Maker them ordain/ His dark materials to create more worlds,--/ Into this wild Abyss the wary Fiend/ Stood on the brink of Hell and looked a while,/ Pondering his voyage; for no narrow frith/ He had to cross. ”
― John Milton, Paradise Lost

This is my third hurricane this season - this is getting old....

On a happy note, this new collection has some fantastic pieces for Christmas at fabulous prices. The Studio McGee Christmas collection last year sold out crazy fast. Just a head's up.

Diane von Furstenberg Launch Overnight

Diane von Furstenberg Wrap Dress

Diane von Furstenberg created her wrap dress in the 1970s. After selling five million wrap dresses, von Furstenberg became a face of women's liberation, appearing on the cover of Newsweek. The iconic wrap dress is easy to wear, versatile, and timeless.

The printed jersey wrap dress is stylish, feminine, and, most importantly, practical. It gave women the freedom to dress with ease while looking sophisticated and put-together. Through its soft and body-molding fit, it provided professional empowerment and personal freedom. Five decades later and the wrap is still around.

I bought my first wrap dress in law school and aways felt great wearing it. While most women in law school and at work (I went to law school in DC and many of us had part time and summer jobs at law firms and federal agencies) wore navy blue suits with white blouses trying to dress like our male counterparts, I never did.

The Rattan Bar Cart/Today Show/Second Shot

Emily Painter Interiors

Did you see me on the Today Show this morning? I was interviewed by Gabe Gutteriez about problems getting the second Covid shot in Florida. BTW, I get my second shot this morning. Exciting morning!

I love a rattan bar cart, whether vintage or new. I have two - one in my lanai for accessories and a second in the guest bedroom as a bedside table. But there may be a new one in my future.

Both of these are great deals. This Opalhouse Cassia Rattan Bar Cart is $150.00. I have many Opalhouse Target pieces and I have found the quality and style to be excellent.

Opalhouse Cassia Bar Cart

This navy blue one from Urban Outfitters would be perfect in my house and for any lover of blue and white chinoiserie and at $299 is a great price for a designer look. UO is a great source for rattan pieces.

PS - A follower kindly commented leaving the link for the Today Show here while I was out getting my second shot. Thank you!

Halloween at CCC

CCC

I love decorating for Halloween. I received my John Derian black weeping willow from Target yesterday and it joins my Target skull pineapples. So fun!

My raffia pumpkins from Target -

A glimpse of the breakfast room -

I love my blue pumpkin - I would like a couple more, but this is the only one that I have found so far. I got it a couple of weeks ago and there is zero deterioration to date. One trick I read to prevent rotting is to clean it with a Clorox or antibacterial wipe which I didn't have, so I washed it with soap and water and rubbed it down with hand sanitizer - LOL. True story.

Saturday Inspiration

Mary McDonald For Chaddock

I had to laugh - in my feed just now on Pinterest was this Georgia Star Back carved chair at Chairish for $2,967 plus $399 shipping that I got at HomeGoods in perfect condition for $59.99 and stuck it in my Audi shipping. So for my totally obnoxious Anonymous commenter that complains about all the knock off junk at HomeGoods, what is Mary McDonald a knock off of?

And here it is happily ensconced in my master bedroom.

CCC

If any of you are John Derian fans (the decoupage guru), his Halloween collection for Target launched at 3 am and I was online ordering things in the middle of the night. A great piece that my daughter grabbed is this bones table that he designed to looked like faux bamboo and you get up close and realize it is bones.

I have a thing for black plants and ordered this black faux weeping willow -

Some items sell out fast with these Target designer launches, so Kate and I always order when the sales start which is always in the middle of the night.

We all love Scalamandre Zebras and I just saw these pajamas sets in this zebra pattern and lots more colors and patterns that would be great for sleep and lounging around the house. I like it in this pink colorway. Especially during this pandemic, it's great to have chic lounging outfits.

Happy Saturday - my handyman is due over shortly.

Tropical Pineapples

Amanda Lindroth

I must admit I have a thing for pineapples in decorating. Not the Colonial Williamsburg look, but pineapples with a tropical island vibe. This is a fabulous example - large and dramatic and with beautiful detailing.

Target was selling these Nate Berkus ones a few years ago and I got a bunch. That Nate Berkus line for Target was really excellent.

The Gilded Tortoise Shell

Paloma Contreras

Do you recall when Target was selling these Nate Berkus tortoise shells? (Now discontinued) I have one in white that was in my family room. I really like it in gold. I wonder if my fave Liquid Leaf works on resin? I think it's very glam in gold and very Palm Beach. Next little project.
