J.McLaughlin Sale

Arabella Skirt in Heritage Bloom Cross

J.McLaughlin is having a 30% off Long Weekend Sale with lots of great pieces. I love the styling of this outfit above with this pretty pink floral skirt paired with a chambray shirt and leopard flats.

A Halloween Martini

Juliska

This is so fun! I have to do this at CCC. This features a Juliska toile tray - this is their Country Estate Harvest Hostess Tray in Sepia.

Fall in Florida

CCC

I so miss fall foliage in Virginia this time of year. Fall in Florida means that temperatures have finally dipped down into the eighties. I am really enjoying my hunt for beautiful heirloom pumpkins. I have three celadon ones so far.

A Chinoiserie Halloween - Celadon

CCC

I love celadon Chinese porcelain and have several pieces at CCC. Celadon mixes beautifully with blue and white Chinese porcelain and looks especially great in a beach house with sea glass colors of blues and greens.

Blue Pumpkins

Jarrahdale Blue Pumpkins

It is September 15th, so pumpkins should start arriving this week. Publix has gotten in several types to date - white, small orange pie pumpkins, and new small striped ones called Bumble Bees as well as gourds. I suspect my favorite heirloom pumpkins will be arriving soon. I mentioned last year that heirloom pumpkins last so well - I keep mine for months.

A Chinoiserie Autumn

Dillard's Southern Living Collection

September arrives this coming Tuesday and I for one am very excited. I love decorating for fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. My plans are already underway.

I am not the biggest fan of orange for fall decor, and I'll bet many of you agree. I can't stand traditional orange pumpkins, for example. But today with all the fabulous heirloom pumpkins, there are pumpkins in white, celadon, and blue - very Chinoiserie Chic!

Halloween Hostessing

Caspari

Caspari has such chic ideas for Halloween. I am definitely borrowing some of these. Halloween is not just for kids!

White for Halloween

The Potted Boxwood

Halloween does not have to be orange pumpkins. White Halloween decorations are used for this beautiful white colonial. After all, ghosts are white and mummies are white and skeletons are white. Here white pumpkins in all shapes and sizes flank the front door. Skeletons perch atop boxwood planters.

Halloween in Old Town Alexandria

Old Town Alexandria

I saw these photos of Halloween decorations starting to pop up in Old Town in Alexandria, Virginia this week and had to share. (I lived in Alexandria for about thirty five years). Don't miss the skulls peeking though the fence above.

Mum is the Word

Mummy with Cream Horns

I saved this photo in my files and it is probably my favorite Halloween decoration ever. A bakery with a woman mummy serving an enormous tray of cream horns. Fabulous!

Happy October

CCC

Who remembers the wonderful quote from Anne of Green Gables about October? "I am so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." Such a gorgeous time of year.

Halloween Earrings

Pearl Ghost Stud Earrings

I love pearls and these pearl ghost earrings are just too darling. A fun combination of preppy and seasonal.

Getting Spooky @ CCC

CCC

I started a bit of Halloween decorating at CCC yesterday. I already had these darling claw foot candlesticks from Target from last year. I added these very chic gold snakeskin candles also from Target available now.

A Blue and White Autumn

Blue and White Ceramic Pumpkins

I am not a fan of traditional orange pumpkins at all. I do love heirloom pumpkins in white and in blue and the Cinderella pumpkins in pale peach. These colors all work much better at CCC. I also love faux pumpkins in wicker and in blue and white.

Halloween Decor

Witch Hand Candle Holders

I am absolutely not going to feel like I'm too early to post Halloween decor because I was in Target yesterday shopping for Halloween things and they are putting out Christmas merchandise. Oh my word! September 1st.... They already had lots of wreaths, garlands, and lights out.

Hurricanes, Halloween, and Fall in Florida

CCC

With no fall foliage in South Florida, fall decorating is especially important to me. I am not complaining, I'll take palm trees and no leaves to rake any day!

Fall DIY

MacKenzie-Childs Blue and White Striped Pumpkin

Mackenzie-Childs has lots of wonderful pumpkins for fall and Halloween decorating in lots of colors, designs, and sizes. I especially like this blue and white striped one. I never tire of blue and white stripes.

Halloween Decorating Planning

Martha Stewart Living

I absolutely adore Halloween decorating. I decorate CCC inside and out and am always looking for new ideas. In August I start my planning.

I will absolutely try this fun floral arrangement. I even have a black ginger jar I got last year that will be perfect for the vase. I am always looking for ways to incorporate chinoiserie touches. White roses from Publix and black snakes and bugs from the five and dime. Are there any five and dimes anymore? I guess the closest is Dollar Tree or Michaels, but my go-to is Amazon Prime because it is so convenient. I have an Amazon warehouse a mile away so most things I get delivered within twenty four hours.
