I am a sucker for a beautifully set table that includes Chinoiserie. It is funny that when I got married I didn't even know the word Chinoiserie but both my china patterns were in fact Chinoiserie! This fabric is Brunschwig & Fils Samarkand edged with Greek key and of course I love the orchids and monkeys.

I am not a fan of red and green for Christmas decorating whereas I adore pink and green. I love the idea of combining malachite and hot pink for my dinner table. I would use one of my Chinoiserie china patterns instead of black and white. These are my two formal china patterns from my wedding registry. Either would be beautiful as would a blue and white Chinoiserie china.

Setting the Chinoiserie Table-China Patterns

Today we take a look at my favorite Chinoiserie china patterns. I know that the conventional wisdom is to choose a white plate with a simple band so you won't tire of it. I would be tired of that the day I got it. My wedding china is Wedgwood Chinese Tigers and I still love it. I would no more have simple white china than I would have white walls in my home. To me both show an absence of style and imagination. Buy what you love for your home and you will never go wrong. Above is the classic Royal Crown Derby Old Imari.

Chinoiserie China Patterns

This lovely Kate Spade pattern Pompano Point Green by Lenox is a modern classic. The Chinoiserie inspired pattern was recommended by my blogger friend Skyla of Sanity Fair, one of my favorite blogs. It was discontinued in 2008, but is readily found online on eBay and at Replacements, Ltd. With its green and gold bamboo on white, it will go with virtually any color scheme. It would be stunning in a Hollywood Regency inspired blue and white dining room like my friend Averill at the wonderful blog Odi et Amo is planning. Chinoiserie China Patterns

After many requests, I am beginning a series on Chinoiserie china patterns. This series will include fine china, everyday china, current patterns, and discontinued patterns, as well as my favorites. If you have any you wish me to include, please send me an email or leave a comment. 

Today I am featuring Lenox Morning Blossom which was in production from 1975-1990. It is one of my sets of fine china. It is quite lovely and timeless. Although no longer made, the good news is that it is easily available on eBay and through Replacements, Ltd. On eBay you will frequently find place settings never used and even some still in the box. The background is ivory, with pink, blue, and yellow flowers. It has a blue band and gold edge. Click the picture to enlarge the view. I love this elegant and beautiful pattern that is perfect if your taste in colors is in the pastel range and more traditional. Imagine this in a dining room with de Gournay or Gracie paper in pastels. Gorgeous. It works beautifully in my dining room which has pale green walls, blush and ivory striped silk taffeta draperies, lots of black and gold, and lots of blue and white Chinese porcelain.
