Halloween Decorating Planning

Martha Stewart Living

I absolutely adore Halloween decorating. I decorate CCC inside and out and am always looking for new ideas. In August I start my planning.

I will absolutely try this fun floral arrangement. I even have a black ginger jar I got last year that will be perfect for the vase. I am always looking for ways to incorporate chinoiserie touches. White roses from Publix and black snakes and bugs from the five and dime. Are there any five and dimes anymore? I guess the closest is Dollar Tree or Michaels, but my go-to is Amazon Prime because it is so convenient. I have an Amazon warehouse a mile away so most things I get delivered within twenty four hours.

The Ladylike Trend - The Lady Jacket

Mariner Jersey Lady Jacket with Sequins

The lady jacket is a hot trend this fall and winter. Here it is reimagined for the holidays in black sequins with white braid trim. It has chic gold crest buttons. I love that this jacket is cotton jersey, so it will be nice and comfy on the inside and not too hot for those of us in warmer climates.

A Chic Pink & Blue Palette

Jonathan Adler

My design aesthetic has definitely changed somewhat since living in Florida. I have really embraced white walls. My house is white stucco outside (Sherwin Williams Alabaster) and white walls inside as well (Benjamin Moore Classic Gray), a warm white.

The Chinoiserie Foyer

Huff-Dewberry, Inc. - Veranda

This foyer is in the gorgeous Atlanta home I posted on yesterday named Villa Juanita.

Palm Beach Style

Les Esembliers

I posted before on this Palm Beach home because I was fascinated by the ginger jars in front - four of them if you look closely. I'm sure they bring them in for hurricanes though! I do love this home. I am planning to redo my driveway at some point and love this with the pavers and grass in between, but I don't think this would fly with my HOA.

Chanelling Chanel

The Square in Midnight Tweed

Unless you are brand new to Chinoiserie Chic, you know that I am a huge fan of Rothy's flats - they are chic, stylish, incredibly comfortable, eco-friendly, and machine washable.

They have come out with two new styles that I love - with their cap toes, tweed, and color palette of black and white and a pink interior - they remind me a lot of Chanel flats stylewise, but cost effective and low maintenance. These are wonderful for the holidays - a touch of metallic thread adds a hint of sparkle.

Cheeky L.L.Bean

Audrey's New Boat and Tote

I did a post a little while back on L.L.Bean's iconic boat and tote, a favorite of prepsters, the boating set, and country clubbers for decades. You can read my post here.

The Chinoiserie Dining Room

Liz Caan

This is an intriguing dining room by Liz Caan featuring a favorite chinoiserie fabric of mine - Quadrille's Paradise Background in Black on Tint. A farmhouse dining table paired with cane wingback dining chairs is lit by a white and brass ring chandelier. I like the unexpected choice of the pink velvet on the chairs.

Red, White & Blue Vignette

Sarah Bartholomew Design

This is a wonderful red, white, and blue vignette with chinoiserie elements. I love the blue and white vase filled with anemones. Anemones are such a great flower. They are part of the Ranunculaceae family, originating from China and Japan. I especially like white ones with dark centers and think they pair beautifully with blue and white Chinese porcelain.

Ironing in Style

The Laundress

I find that by surrounding yourself with beautiful things, you can make almost any task enjoyable. Ironing is a perfect example and I will show you how. These are all products I have and highly recommend. They are not only beautiful, but highly functional as well.

Coastal Blue and White

Barclay Butera

This is such a perfect example of a coastal interior. A blue and white striped runner (this looks like my Dash and Albert Catamaran Stripe), a pair of oversized blue and white ginger jars, black and white sailing photographs, white walls, and dark wood floors. Displaying a collection of coral on candlesticks is such a cool idea.

Blue and White and Thank You RL

Ralph Lauren - Architectural Digest

A stunning room in Ralph Lauren's Bedford, New York home with so many of my favorites. This is the pool house. The black and white tiled floor and the beamed ceiling are stunning. I have posted many times how much I love combining Chinoiserie and stripes. Check out the basket filled with white coral between the blue and white Chinese porcelain lamps. Another great idea is the large blue and white Chinese porcelain tub filled with firewood - I love that (although perhaps not for here in Florida).

And a big shout out to Ralph Lauren for his very generous response to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Chinoiserie Dining Room

Mary McGee - Gracie Studio

This is a beautiful and modern alternative to blue and white. Stunning purple Chinoiserie wallcovering by Gracie Studio - Iris Shimmer - with a palette of black and white mid century modern furnishings lends a modern but timeless vibe.

The Chinoiserie Bathroom

Robin Gannon

Robin Gannon's bathroom in the 2020 Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse features Brunschwig & Fils Feuillage wallpaper on the upper walls and ceiling. Note the black matte hardware that is the "it" thing. Trend or new classic? A potted orchid and bamboo mirror add Chinoiserie touches. Is it just me or does it bother you too that the mirror is part on the white woodwork and part on the wallpaper? Looks awkward to me.

Update - look what just arrived - you have to love Amazon Prime - a rare rainy morning here in sunny Florida but I had to share my dragon float - he inflated in seconds with my hair dryer. I'll post better pics this weekend in the pool with the sun out!

Black and White Chinoiserie

Ethan Allen

I love a great black and white space. It is a modern and timeless classic, and made even better with Chinoiserie. Here a pair of white ginger jars, one filled with white calla lilies, is a very elegant choice.

Below are more black and white favorites.

Unexpected Chinoiserie

Robin Gannon - Veranda Magazine

The Kohler clawfoot tub is flanked with a pair of drapery panels rather than a shower curtain. An oversized Chinoiserie pagoda mirror adds drama to this guest bathroom.

Chinoiserie Outdoors

One Kings Lane
Here is some great inspiration for bringing your love for Chinoiserie outdoors - paint outdoor furniture in glossy emerald green, add Chinoiserie pillows and a Greek key rug. Note the pagoda candle holder also painted in green.

More Pink Chinoiserie

Grandin Road
A great combination - a hot pink Chinese Chippendale chair with a black and white striped cushion.

The Chinoiserie Powder Room

Pinterest
I love this idea for a beach house - an oversized bird print. The coral pink is a great contrast to the black and white.
