Happy St. Patrick's Day

Blue & White Ginger Jars with Green Stands

Happy St. Patrick's Day. I miss St. Patrick's Day in DC - great Irish bars like The Dubliner in DC and Murphy's in Alexandria, Virginia and of course the St. Patrick's Day parades.

Decorating For St. Patrick's Day

CCC

In March, I will be hosting a big St. Patrick's Day wine tasting and dinner complete with Irish dancing and Irish music. And although my last name is Connolly, I have no Irish blood whatsoever. My late husband was Irish and from Boston. No green beer - just wine varietals I have chosen with a connection to green like green in the name of the wine or green tasting notes.

Tassels for the Holidays

Red Dupioni Downing Dress

I posted this week on this wonderful green tassel top below. Well, this is also available in the top in black and a dress version in red and in black. I am so tempted to get the green top and the red dress for Christmas parties and the black dress for New Year's Eve. And they are so well priced too!

Dressing for the Holidays - Green

Green Dupioni Chadwick Tassel Top

Green is a wonderful color for holiday attire that will take you from Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve. This tassel top is a great example - perfect for dinners, parties, or special occasions, style it with tailored pants or a skirt for a statement-making look.

Autumn @ CCC

CCC

It is 72 degrees here in South Florida - we finally have a cold front. Of course, it will be up to the mid eighties this afternoon. I have started a little fall decorating here at CCC.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

The Chicago River Dyed Green - Wikipedia

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Everyone is Irish today. I grew up in the Chicago area. For over 60 years, the city has been transforming the Chicago River into a vibrant emerald green, marking the start of a weekend filled with festivities. The tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green for St. Patrick’s Day started in 1962, thanks to a creative idea from then Mayor Richard J. Daley.

Green & Chinoiserie

Perigold

With St. Patrick's Day on Monday and Spring right around the corner, green is the color du jour. I use lots of green at CCC and love the way green mixes with blue and white Chinese porcelain. I love this photo with all the green and white and chinoiserie. I have always liked the idea of elevating ginger jars on lucite pedestals like these, but always worry they would get bumped by the pups playing or clumsy guests.

These darling earrings would be perfect for St. Patrick's Day. The description for these says - "These earrings are a delightful choice for St. Patrick's Day, combining fun and style with their bright gemstones and charming shamrock design."

Red & Green Jewelry for the Holidays

Malachite Earrings

A wonderful way to accessorize any outfit for the holidays is with a great piece of jewelry in red or green. Even a neutral dress, say in black or white, is the perfect canvas for red or green statement jewelry. Here are some great picks -

Christmas Ginger Jars

Red Candy Stripe Ginger Jar

I can't wait to start decorating for the holidays and I am already in planning mode. I always like adding a few new things to my Christmas decor. I have been eyeing these ginger jars in red and green.

The Chinoiserie Palette

House of Old and New

This is such a lovely example of how a chinoiserie vignette with Chinese porcelain need not be limited to a color palette of blue and white. Here a coral jar and a foo dog in green work beautifully with the classic blue and white Chinese porcelain pieces. My home has lots of coral, green, and blue and white, so this would work beautifully at CCC.

Displaying Lettuce Ware

Leta Austin Foster - Flower Magazine

Lettuce ware is highly collectible and has been for decades. Tory Burch has a wonderful lettuce ware collection she did in collaboration with Dodie Thayer's estate. Dodie was an American artisan and entrepreneur and her story is remarkable. Her ancestors helped settle Palm Beach where she taught herself how to mold pottery from lettuce and cabbage leaves.

Legendary hostesses from C.Z. Guest and the Duchess of Windsor to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis collected her signature lettuce ware. Mario Buatta's collection of lettuce ware sold at auction for $48,000.

The Blue and White Dining Room

Huff-Dewberry, Inc. - Veranda

This dramatic dining room is featured in the latest issue of Veranda. The hand-painted blue mural has a Florida meets chinoiserie meets Italy vibe. I love the use of plants with a large potted tropical and a pair of urns with agave.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Ginger Jars with Green Stands

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Although my last name is Irish, it was my late husband who was from Boston and Irish. I don't have an ounce of Irish in me. I grew up north of Chicago where the Chicago River was dyed green for St. Patrick's Day. Very memorable!

Martinique

Mark & Graham x Martinique

The iconic Martinique banana leaf was created by CW Stockwell in 1942 for the Beverly Hills Hotel and the rest is history. It has become one of the world's best known wallpapers. A great favorite in Florida, it exemplifies the exuberant Palm Beach style.

Thinking Spring & Green

Studio McGee

Don't you feel like your house seems sort of empty when you take down the Christmas tree and your Christmas decorations? I certainly do. If you could use a dose of greenery, I have just the solution.

A Blue & White Christmas

Traditional Home

This lovely blue and white vignette has lots of great ideas for Christmas decorating. The mantel is festooned with a garland with blue and silver ornaments and lots of blue and white Chinese porcelain.
