It is 72 degrees here in South Florida - we finally have a cold front. Of course, it will be up to the mid eighties this afternoon. I have started a little fall decorating here at CCC.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Everyone is Irish today. I grew up in the Chicago area. For over 60 years, the city has been transforming the Chicago River into a vibrant emerald green, marking the start of a weekend filled with festivities. The tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green for St. Patrick’s Day started in 1962, thanks to a creative idea from then Mayor Richard J. Daley.

With St. Patrick's Day on Monday and Spring right around the corner, green is the color du jour. I use lots of green at CCC and love the way green mixes with blue and white Chinese porcelain. I love this photo with all the green and white and chinoiserie. I have always liked the idea of elevating ginger jars on lucite pedestals like these, but always worry they would get bumped by the pups playing or clumsy guests.

Tory Burch has a wonderful lettuce ware collection she did in collaboration with Dodie Thayer's estate. Dodie was an American artisan and entrepreneur and her story is remarkable. Her ancestors helped settle Palm Beach where she taught herself how to mold pottery from lettuce and cabbage leaves.

Legendary hostesses from C.Z. Guest and the Duchess of Windsor to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis collected her signature lettuce ware. Mario Buatta's collection of lettuce ware sold at auction for $48,000.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Although my last name is Irish, it was my late husband who was from Boston and Irish. I don't have an ounce of Irish in me. I grew up north of Chicago where the Chicago River was dyed green for St. Patrick's Day. Very memorable!

In Amanda Lindroth's home in Lyford Cay in the Bahamas, much of the furniture, wicker, and shutters are painted a beautiful green. 

The color is inspired by British theater and set designer Oliver Messel, who renovated many homes in Barbados and Mustique that prominently featured a similar color. In many parts of the Caribbean, "Messel green" is a household term for the color.

Although I love my kitchen and have no current plans to redo it, this gorgeous kitchen is definitely going in my files for down the road. I would call this color celadon although it could also be called a pale pistachio or a soft mint. I find it so calming. It would be stunning at CCC with my aquarium window looking out onto palm trees and preserves.
