My Christmas party last night was a huge success. I had been concerned that the winter storm would cause people to cancel, but here in Venice we got nothing but some much needed rain and everyone attended. By far the biggest hit was my Champagne Bar. Everyone brought a bottle of their favorite Champagne, so we had a fabulous selection. I had recipes and all the ingredients if one wanted to make a Champagne Cocktail or Kir Imperial. Lots of bubbly was consumed....

It looks to me like virtually everyone is starting sales before Thanksgiving which is great. I will have my house decorated and Christmas shopping done this week. The early bird gets to relax in December!

I am crazy about tartan. I lived for many years in Alexandria, Virginia that has very strong Scottish roots. My favorite event of the year was always The Scottish Walk, the first weekend in December, that was three days of round the clock Scottish festivities including a heather and greens sale, a Scotch whisky and food tasting gala, and a wonderful parade. For the gala, many men would wear tuxedo jackets with authentic kilts, and many women had gorgeous tartan gowns. I had a floor length strapless silk taffeta gown in Black Watch tartan that I loved. It had a matching stole too.
