Setting the Chinoiserie Christmas Table

Caspari

I used to avoid using red at CCC when decorating for the holidays, thinking that it did not work well with my tropical palette of blue, white, green, and pink. Over time, I have decided that red is actually wonderful with these colors, but I don't let it dominate.

The Olive Tree

Caspari Store in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Caspari store in Charlottesville, Virginia is one of my absolute favorites. If you are ever in Charlottesville, don't miss it. Charlottesville is also on my short list if I relocate. I love this olive tree inspiration. Olive trees, both real and faux, continue to be very popular.

One gift that I received for Christmas that I have already opened are these stunning Caspari Scalamandre Zebras placemats. This iconic pattern is perfect for holiday entertaining. It is a great way to elevate your everyday white china. I plan to use them for setting the table for Christmas breakfast.

Amazing Framed Chinoiserie Panels for Peanuts

Caspari Monkey Business

I love framing gorgeous wrapping paper for easy and budget friendly DIY art. My daughter Kate and I framed three gorgeous Chinoiserie wrapping papers from Paper Source for her apartment.

But this new wrapping paper from Caspari by my friend Harrison Howard is not to be missed.

Step One - Pop over to Caspari and buy this Harrison Howard "Monkey Business" wrapping paper for $6.50 for two sheets each measuring 40" by 28."

Step Two - Find a pair of frames at Ikea, Michael's, a thrift store, or wherever you like and frame. This Ikea Ribba measures 27 1/2 by 39 1/4 without the mat. Almost perfect and it comes in lots of finishes. It's $24.99.

Step Three - Admire your pair of framed Chinoiserie panels for about $60.00.

Here are a couple more Caspari Chinoiserie wrapping papers that would also be amazing framed. These both come in 5' rolls and would lend themselves to a large framed panel. If you would like to use these papers for wrapping gifts, that's fine too.

2013 Chinoiserie Chic Christmas Gift Wrap

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you are all ready to turn your attention to Christmas. I am at Day Five of my series on decorating your home for the holidays with Chinoiserie Chic style.

If you missed any posts so far or would like to review, here they are -

Holiday Decorating at Chinoiserie Chic

I love beautifully wrapped gifts. Every year I search for great gift wrap for all my Christmas gift giving. This year's is really amazing. I am a HUGE fan of Caspari. I think their design store in Charlottesville is my favorite store anywhere. If I had a store, that is what it would be like.

Their new Wild Christmas line this year is too good. So Chinoiserie Chic with its elephants, zebras, and leopards! Wild Christmas comes in gift wrap, tissue, gift bags, wine bags, gift tags, and gift enclosures.

Great tip - for my husband, who is not, shall I say, skilled at wrapping gifts, I buy the matching gift bags and tissue so he can easily wrap his gifts to us.

It is also available in plates, napkins, invitations, guest towels, place cards, even Christmas crackers if you really want to go wild. See it all here.

I am pairing their Wild Christmas gift wrap with black and white ribbon and trim in stripes, polka dots, and Greek key.

The Pink Pagoda is having her third Blue and White Bash Linking Party this Monday, December 2ND. Blue and white posts with a holiday theme are encouraged. I am putting together a special post on a Blue and White Chinoiserie Christmas. Jennifer (The Pink Pagoda) will be sharing how she incorporates blue and white in her own holiday decor in her home. Hope to see you there. Have you seen The Pink Pagoda's new logo? Isn't it stunning?

Chinoiserie in Charlottesville

My daughter and I  just returned last evening from a little junket to Charlottesville which is my notion of living in the country - fabulous shopping, restaurants, and lots of Chinoiserie in a bucolic setting. We stayed and dined at the Clifton Inn and it was lovely. We enjoyed a beautiful suite and a ten course dinner. These are Instagrams I took of it. The highlight was shopping on Main Street in Charlottesville - especially the Caspari Design Store, Oyster House Antiques, and lunch at Hamiltons' at First & Main. I was recognized at Caspari - they are followers of Chinoiserie Chic and we had a tour of the stunning store and lots of new items. Then we buzzed down to Lynchburg for shopping at the new J.Crew Clearance Store that one of my interior design clients alerted me to - very fun.

DIY Chinoiserie Panel

This beautiful Caspari silver Chinoiserie wrapping paper measures 30" by 60" and is $6.50. Use your imagination and frame it, mount it, cover it with plexiglass, or paste it to the wall and surround it with molding painted silver, perhaps as a pair, for super cheap but super chic panels for your dining room, entryway, or bedroom. Caspari wrapping paper is absolutely gorgeous in person. This would be a great Chinoiserie DIY.

A Chinoiserie Birthday Part 4

A beautiful touch for the Chinoiserie birthday table would be these Chinoiserie place cards from Caspari.
