Bunny Williams Foyer - I Spy

Bunny Williams

I came across this picture of the foyer in the Connecticut home of Bunny Williams and John Rosselli. If you look closely you will see a white obelisk just inside the door. I have what looks to be the same one that I picked up years ago at a favorite vintage store in McLean, Virginia.

Mine has monkeys at the four corners - I can't really see if Bunny's has monkeys or perhaps fu dogs, but the finial, pierced work, and its shape and size all appear identical. Mine is signed by the artist and "Italy" but no other markings. It is Italian majolica.

Here is mine in my breakfast room at CCC.

I wish I knew more about its provenance, but it's fun that we both have this piece in our homes.

  1. What a beautiful “objet”! Would you mind sharing the name of your favorite vintage store in McLean, assuming it’s still open?

    1. On Chain Bridge Road near the Kellogg Collection - not Treasure Trove. I don't remember the name and not sure if it is still there.

I loved seeing lamps I have on my secretary on Bunny's secretary in her book "An Affair with a House". They are Stiffel Egyptian Neoclassical. I have come across a few others for clients over the years. I still love them.
