Flower Arranging Chinoiserie Style

Caspari

This is a favorite flower vase of mine and it is quite Chinoiserie Chic made of natural bamboo. Flower arranging could not be easier - just place a stem or two in each of the five glass tubes.

This artful design puts a spin on traditional vases, placing blooms in a line side-by-side. The result is un expected and eye-catching: a neat row of elegant blooms framed in bamboo.

Flowers and Bows

Diplomat Mini Pretty Peonies

Floral prints and bows are favorite looks of mine, and both will be popular trends this Spring. This wonderful dress above combines flowers and bows with my favorite color pink and my favorite flowers peonies. What a beautiful back treatment on this dress. This would be lovely for Easter.

Christopher Radko Chinoiserie

Christoper Radko Chinoiserie Bloom

For those who collect Christoper Radko's gorgeous ornaments, here is a blue and white chinoiserie one called Chinoiserie Bloom. This would make a lovely Christmas gift for the chinoiserie lover. I collect special chinoiserie Christmas ornaments - I would often find gorgeous ones at Neiman Marcus - alas! - no NM close by.

Fall Florals

Carolyne Roehm

Mums are plentiful this time of year in both potted plants and cut flowers. To really elevate this flower, pair it with blue and white Chinese porcelain. A perfect combination.

Tulipieres

Large Watermelon Pink Artichoke Tulipiere

I know we all love tulipieres. Also known as tulip bowls, tulipiere vessels are ornate ceramic pieces featuring several different spouts that hold blooms (traditionally tulips) individually. Tulipieres are self-arranging floral vessels. Dating to the early 17th century, tulipieres were designed to display the blooms of prized tulip bulbs.

Fall Florals

Top in Floral Crinkle Chiffon

A big trend for this fall that I love is florals in moodier autumn colors. It is quite chic and an easy transition from summer to fall. Also a perfect look for tropical climates like here - lighter fabrics but in harvest colors.  I have rounded up some great choices.

Happy May Day

CCC

Happy May Day everyone. April showers bring May flowers except here where we barely had a sprinkle the entire month. This is the dry season - the rainy season is not until June. But lots of flowers both indoors and out. I couldn't resist a couple more dozen roses from Publix since their BOGO ends today. I love how the colors of the roses match the peach and coral of the art.

Setting the Easter Table with Chinoiserie

Serena Fresson

If you are looking for last minute inspiration for setting the Easter table, here is a wonderful example. At the grocery store, grab cut and potted flowers - tulips, lilies, hydrangeas, muscari, hyacinth, roses, ranunculus - whatever you like. Use all white for a sophisticated and cohesive look. Pastels also work beautifully for the Easter table.

Flower Power - Spring Dressing

Dorris Dress in Graphic Gerbera in Navy & Pink

This is such a wonderful little dress. I love the scoop neckline, short bell sleeves, and contrast binding. It can be worn belted or not. It has pockets! A great floral but very modern. Navy and pink are my two favorite colors and perfect together.

I have posted before about Williams Sonoma's very popular and beautiful Famille Rose Collection. They have come out with a gorgeous collection of vases and planters just in time for Valentine's Day.

Fall Flower Arranging

Charlotte Moss

I thought it would be fun today to get some inspiration for fall floral arrangements. My favorite approach is to combine fall flowers with a blue and white container.

Chinoiserie Chic Flower Arranging

Caspari

I have a wonderful way to create easy and elegant flower arrangements with Chinoiserie Chic style. These bamboo vases are perfect - add a single stem or two to each of the five glass tubes and you are done! A very simple but beautiful approach.

I especially love the orchid stems used here. The vases are made with real bamboo. Their slender profile makes them ideal for the mantel or bedside table.

Setting the Summer Table

Sarah Bray Bermuda for Aerin

Setting the table here in South Florida, more and more I am using beautiful seashells as a centerpiece - usually either coral or large conch shells, with bud vases with a single bloom -  white oriental lilies as used here are a lovely choice. Wherever you live, this is a wonderful look for setting the summer table.

The Scent of Spring

Urban Stems

Three of my favorite flowers are peonies, roses, and freesia. I found a lovely candle I have to share that combines these three wonderful floral scents.

Happy Spring & Flower Power

Tuckernuck

Happy spring! Exuberant floral prints are a huge trend this spring and summer. We are not talking dainty little flowers, but bold prints and bright colors. It's such a fun and happy look that I love. Pair them with neutrals or colorful accessories, whatever you like.

Pappagallo & Tory Burch

Pappagallo Flower Ballet Flats

When I was a teenager, one of my prized possessions was my collection of Pappagallo flower ballet flats in a rainbow of colors that I would coordinate daily with my outfit. Boy did I love those shoes. They were all lined with a mattress ticking stripe that was a trademark of these shoes.

Flower Arranging - A Perfect Vase

Meg Braff

This is another shot from the wonderful coastal Maine home I posted on yesterday. I love the skirted linen table topped with books, blue and white Chinese porcelain, seashells, and wicker. Can anyone name the flowers in the vase? The answer is Cimicifuga, a wonderful plant for the woodland or shade garden.

Straw Bags & Summer Flowers

Ashley McCormick - Cottages & Gardens

Here is a fun idea for summer - use straw beach bags/totes as containers for summer flowers - preferably real ones! For the hydrangeas one could use a potted plant or cut hydrangeas in a vase. Use a plastic garbage bag as a liner for the bottom for any drips. The bench cushion is Quadrille's Petite Zig Zag. Straw bags are so summery and multi-functional - I use one every day as a handbag because I love a big bag.

Red, White & Blue Vignette

Sarah Bartholomew Design

This is a wonderful red, white, and blue vignette with chinoiserie elements. I love the blue and white vase filled with anemones. Anemones are such a great flower. They are part of the Ranunculaceae family, originating from China and Japan. I especially like white ones with dark centers and think they pair beautifully with blue and white Chinese porcelain.
