I happened upon this wonderful photo of Lilly Pulitzer on her boat from 1964 here in Florida. When will we be back to those days of relaxing in the sun and the ocean without a care in the world? But check out this boat - Wow. I was researching about the boat, the fabric, etc. and this is what I found from Conde Nast Traveller -

"Pulitzer on her (print-covered) boat. One potential reason for the pose she's striking here? Pulitzer often preferred to go commando (without underwear). It's the reason she insisted that all of her dresses be lined!"

That is a hoot. Who knew? I love that marvelous curved sofa with fringe and a zillion cushions. Not as practical as our Sunbrella today, but so glamorous. How about using Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon?

I am generally not a fan of knock-offs, but this is such a good deal, I had to bring it to your attention. Above is Dwell Studio for Robert Allen Ming Dragon, in homage (how's that for a nice spin) to Schumacher's iconic, beloved, and very expensive Chiang Mai Dragon shown below. New Chinoiserie from Schumacher

Schumacher has come out with its own answer to it own iconic Chiang Mai Dragon with its new Shanghai Peacock pictured in the first three photos. Although I like it, I don't love it. I much prefer the design and especially the colorways of Chiang Mai Dragon. I'm sure interior designers tired of using Chiang Mai Dragon a hundred times will use it, but I still love the original. What do you think?

Sunday Inspiration

Fantastic room - saturated pink and blue upholstery, graphic black and white floor with squares laid on the diagonal (much more chic) and a Greek key border, an unexpected green chair, loads of tufting, softest blue walls, crazy good plants and planters, and Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon pillows. Quite spectacular.

"True Blood" Goes Chinoiserie

A Chic Entry

A follower of Chinoiserie Chic has sent me this photo of her very chic Chinoiserie entry. She was inspired by my post on the JCPenney Cindy Crawford Trellis Foot Stool to buy two of them and cover them in Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon she won on eBay. Click to enlarge the photo-it's wonderful! I love the white parsons console, the owl umbrella stand, copies of Vogue Living: Houses, Gardens, People and The Audrey Hepburn Treasures, the malachite box, the rug, the framed piece-really wonderful attention to detail. I do think the stools absolutely make the space-in her words, they take the entryway from drab to fab. I don't agree that it was drab before, but the Chinese Chippendale stools and iconic Chinoiserie fabric do elevate the space dramatically. Thanks so much for sharing!
