Pickleball @ Mini CCC

Mini CCC

Pickleball has come to CCC. How fun! Now I need to order miniature pickleball paddles. Paddles have a solid, flat surface with no strings attached. Pickleball utilizes these.

Rackets (or racquets) have an open frame that holds a network of tightly stretched strings. Examples include tennis and badminton.

Etsy is a great source for such things.

Having Way Too Much Fun

Georgian Style Red and Gold Japanned Secretary - 1stDibs

A chinoiserie piece I have long coveted is a red and gold lacquered secretary. Fine antique versions are tens of thousands of dollars and excellent reproductions can easily be over $10,000.

Online Framing

Willa Heart on Etsy

My daughter Kate surprised me with these darling prints for the new house from one of her favorite Etsy shops Willa Heart. I think they will be wonderful in the kitchen or breakfast room.

I think I will have them framed in gold bamboo. Has anyone used Framebridge? It sounds so easy - included in the price, they send you a mailer, you mail them back, and they ship you your framed art. Framebridge gets rave reviews and their prices are great. Tons of bloggers recommend them highly, so I am going to give them a try. Especially now, online is the way to go.

Technology Day @ CCC

Etsy - CooperModern

So today is modern technology day at CCC. If all goes as planned (and it rarely does), Amazon will be delivering the Samsung Frame TV this morning along with a new receiver for my surround sound system. Then the TV is getting installed in the master bedroom and the surround sound that is all over the house including the lanai gets hooked up to the TVs and sound system. The new Frame TV has Alexa built in as well. And my internet and streaming is all wireless so everything needs to sync. As for the art on the Frame TV, it comes with a trial subscription to works of art from museums and galleries, but you can also download tons of art from places like Etsy and Juniper Home or upload your own art or photographs. So this will be a whole new learning curve with all of this for me. It will be a long day.... Cocktails @ 5.

Update - the TV was to arrive between 9 AM and noon and they were here at 9:05. Good start.

Dog Days

Harper

An exciting day in dog world yesterday. In the mad rush to get things out of the old house, the pups' dog beds got left behind by the movers. And I have decided to stop calling him GG which I decided is a bit too cute and harmless sounding. Any ideas for a new moniker are welcome. Their new banana leaf beds arrived yesterday. Check out the hot pink piping. They seem to be happy with them. For small dogs, a Euro size (26" by 26") pillow and sham works great and can be easily laundered as needed. These were from Etsy available here. And I love that she is right here in Florida. I love supporting local businesses.

The monkeys kept a watchful eye on the pups as they settled in on their new beds.

Of course, this is where the pups sleep at night.

Chinese Dragon High/Low

For a while I have wanted a white Chinese dragon. The Jonathan Adler version above is kind of fun and mod, but not for $350.00. Not quite my style either. In general I find Jonathan Adler a bit too Miami Beach as opposed to Palm Beach for my own home.

I love the vintage Fitz & Floyd one below, but it's VERY hard to find, especially in mint condition, and always pricey. I think the detail is wonderful.

I just snagged him on Etsy for $50.00. :-)  :-)  :-)  :-)

I think he's going to enjoy living in my Chinoiserie home. I know just the spot for him.

Vintage will continue to be a very hot trend this year and especially vintage Chinoiserie. Stalk eBay, Etsy, thrift stores, and auctions - there are amazing finds out there.

Bar Styling with AnthologyHouse

Lonny
There is nothing more chic to me than a beautifully styled bar. As you see from all these examples, beyond the essentials, one of the best ways to infuse your bar with style and personality is by adding some vintage pieces. Vintage glassware, ice buckets, and pitchers are functional as well as elegant choices. Also be sure to add a fun vintage piece or two like a brass animal, foo dogs, a pair of Chinese figurines, a pineapple - whatever reflects your style. I have a giraffe, a hippo, and a pineapple on my bar cart.

One of the best sources anywhere for vintage pieces for your bar (and for stunning vintage bar carts) is AnthologyHouse. I hope you have already visited their wonderful Etsy store here. They have also just partnered with Chairish for larger items, furniture, and high end vintage pieces. Very exciting news! Chairish is an online consignment marketplace for design obsessed people to buy and sell exceptional pre-owned home furnishings. Chairish has been featured in many magazines including House Beautiful, Elle Decor, and Country Living.

Below I have included some of my favorite AnthologyHouse vintage decor for styling your bar. With holiday entertaining around the corner, this is a great time for it.

Autumn and Vintage Chinoiserie

Brass Pumpkin
Add seasonal color and flair to your home this fall with one of these lovely vintage pieces from AnthologyHouse. I have hand selected my favorites with autumn colors or themes and many are Chinoiserie. I also always love the vintage glassware they find - such a great addition to the chic bar or bar cart. There is a shop in Old Town specializing in vintage bar items and you would not believe the prices they get! Vintage barware is highly collectible. The next two items are favorites of mine - I'd love them on my bar cart.

Avon Giraffe Perfume Bottle - I have a giraffe on my own bar cart

Hollywood Regency Gold and White Striped Aperitif Glasses - gold and stripes together - perfection

Welcome AnthologyHouse

I am thrilled to welcome a wonderful new sponsor to Chinoiserie Chic - a fabulous Etsy store called AnthologyHouse. Started by Amy and Alyse in Seattle, Washington, they have a great eye and their beautifully curated shop has some really lovely pieces. Each week I will be choosing my top picks from their store. Pieces are added all the time and grabbed quickly, so be sure to visit often to see their new finds and my picks of the week. I asked them to tell us a bit about AnthologyHouse.

"We created AnthologyHouse to showcase some of our favorite vintage objects for the home. We carefully curate our shop with vintage pieces that date back to the 1950 -1970's, our favorite decades of the past that bring you Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century Modern, Chinoiserie, and Preppy Chic inspired designs. Our hand-picked objects for the home are not mass produced and often one of a kind. We believe our pieces will spark conversation and add a touch of glam and style to your home.

We are so excited to partner with Beth at Chinoiserie Chic and feature some of our exclusive Chinoiserie pieces we've personally shopped in our own backyard, the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We are fortunate to live in an area that is heavily influenced by the diverse Asian cultures that reside in Seattle. It allows us to shop for one of a kind Chinoiserie pieces featuring faux bamboo, vintage brass, tea tins, ginger jars, cloisonné vases, and lovely pagoda shaped lamps.

Stay tuned for Beth's hand-picked Chinoiserie Chic Picks of the week from our Etsy shop,
http://www.etsy.com/shop/AnthologyHouse. We will be adding new vintage Chinoiserie inspired pieces to the shop on a weekly basis. You can also follow our shopping journeys where we chronicle our finds on our blog www.anthologyhouse.net and seek out more of our visual discoveries on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest."

Happy Shopping!
