One Room Challenge Chinoiserie Series

Barbara from Hodge: Podge used Chinoiserie to add pops of color to a dark, patternless, and monochromatic living room. Note the Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon pillows, the blue and white ginger jar print from The Pink Pagoda, a red lacquer tray, the blue and white Chinese porcelain bowl, and the sideboard lacquered red. A great example of how even a small dose of Chinoiserie can take a room from dull to dazzling.

The Year of the Dragon

Dragon House at Park Sanssouci
2012 is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese Zodiac, a symbol of wisdom and power. Here are some of my favorite ways to incorporate the dragon into your Chinoiserie home this year. I especially love this new dragon giclee from The Pink Pagoda.

The Chinoiserie Love Letter

Email is wonderful for many things, but not for that perfect love letter to be tucked away and cherished for a lifetime. For that, choose gorgeous Dempsey & Carroll Chinoiserie themed stationery worthy of your words. Three of these limited edition sets are part of a collaboration with Schumacher. Choose from Chiang Mai Dragon in the aquamarine colorway, Chenonceau in a mixed boxed set of five different colorways, or Imperial Trellis in a mixed boxed set of five colorways. I also love the limited edition Bamboo Border by Celerie Kemble.

A Chiang Mai Dragon Christmas

Who wouldn't love a Christmas stocking made from Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon and Kelly Wearstler Imperial Trellis? I first saw these designer stockings on the wonderful new blog Aesthetic Oiseau who also created my gorgeous new blog design. The Etsy shop Plum Cushion makes them and the price is great! I purchased the first two pictured and already received them and they are perfect. Have you ever seen Christmas stockings as chic as these? So simple and elegant, using the best and hottest fabrics, and letting the great fabric designs speak for themselves. Don't think stockings can only be used on fireplace mantles. I love them anywhere in the house at Christmas-on a chair, on a table, hung from a doorknob or kitchen cabinet-use your imagination!
