Saturday Inspiration - Chinoiserie DIY

Check out this stunning dining room at Horchow. Of course, the show stopper for me are the Chinoiserie chairs. At $1300 a chair, they are not in the budget for most. Chinoiserie Chic to the rescue.

The fabric is Robert Allen's Full Sails in Violet. It is available here at $45.82 a yard. Let me know if you find it for less. It's available in several yummy colorways if purple isn't your thing. It's 100% linen and gorgeous in person.

A Favorite Chinoiserie Fabric

Isn't this a great bedroom? I love the mix of patterns and the pops of deep coral red. The show stopper is the Chinoiserie fabric, Robert Allen's Full Sails, a favorite of mine. It is 100% linen and is available in wonderful colorways like Azalea, Chrome, Indigo, Sienna, and Violet. It is not horribly expensive either, retailing at under $50.00 a yard. Horchow used to sell a headboard slipcovered in Full Sails for over $2,000 for a king size - a great DIY! This is a very elegant Chinoiserie toile, with colorways making it perfect for every bedroom from an ultra feminine little girl's bedroom to a sophisticated man's bedroom, and everything in between.

Chiang Mai Dragon High/Low

I am generally not a fan of knock-offs, but this is such a good deal, I had to bring it to your attention. Above is Dwell Studio for Robert Allen Ming Dragon, in homage (how's that for a nice spin) to Schumacher's iconic, beloved, and very expensive Chiang Mai Dragon shown below. At about $20.00 a yard, it is definitely a great look on a budget. Don't miss my earlier post today on great pineapple finds.

DIY Chinoiserie Headboard High/Low

The Dania Orientale Headboard is available at Horchow for $1,798.00 in queen size and $1,439.00 for twin plus shipping and comes slipcovered in this pink Chinoiserie toile. The fabric is Full Sails by Robert Allen and can be found in this colorway Azalea and others for about $45.00 a yard. This looks like a great DIY project using a new or vintage headboard and a few yards of this fabric at a huge cost savings!

I've received lots of questions about the fabric used on the chairs in this room by Barrie Benson. I think it's Vintage Plumes by Robert Allen for Dwell Studio, although in this photo it looks more blue than the Jade colorway it is available in.

Budget Friendly Chinoiserie Fabric

These wonderful chairs I saw on I Suwannee are covered in Robert Allen Crystal Lake. This fabric is a VERY affordable choice and can be found online starting at about $13 a yard.
