Another Fabulous Chinoiserie Chic Steal

Celerie Kemble Parasol Table Lamp - Society Social

This wonderful wicker parasol lamp is wildly popular with interior designers. Handwoven, rattan wicker is just as Caribbean in its style as it is sophisticated. The shade and base are both made of natural rattan; the shade features an exaggerated scallop edge while the base conceals a steel plate. The stem is crafted from stainless steel, finished in a warm antique brass that contrasts the whimsical silhouette. Two bulbs are set to a dimmer switch, so you can set the mood however you like.

HomeGoods Find

CCC

This vignette is when you first enter my home. It reflects my aesthetic, especially here in Florida - an antique black and gold Chinese chest, a pair of vintage calligraphy ginger jars, a vintage Kate Spade handbag filled with sea fans, a collection of conch shells, and a favorite pair of framed botanicals.

Blue and White

Filipa de Abreu

Such a lovely blue and white room with lots of favorites and a tropical flair. I love the X benches, the palm!!!!, the oversized ginger jar, the pup, the sconces, books, and the Celerie Kemble wicker floor lamp. That floor lamp is wonderful, but at a thousand dollars, I'll wait for the HG version - LOL.

BTW, fish scale patterned ginger jars are timeless, but especially good if you are going for that beachy vibe. The only exception I would take is the skirted table. I absolutely adore a great skirted table, but the glass top, the length, and that trim and trim placement all make me nuts.

Palm Beach Chinoiserie

The Colony Hotel Palm Beach - Celerie Kemble

Check out this pagoda fireplace and the flamingo wallpaper. The pink and green palette is so preppy and Palm Beach. I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday.

The Chinoiserie Bathroom

Carla Fonts Hrncir - Luxe Interiors

This wonderful bathroom features lots of Chinoiserie including a pagoda bamboo mirror, Greek key sconces, a monogrammed pagoda guest towel, and a darling blue and white Chinese porcelain monkey. I have a very similar pair that I love that I found at Goodwill for $11.00. Wallpaper is Schumacher's Feather Bloom by Celerie Kemble, a very lovely sisal.

Here are mine in my breakfast room.

Aubergine & Chinoiserie

Matthew Bees - House Beautiful
The bedroom above by interior designer Matthew Bees is in a historic Charleston single in Charleston, South Carolina. My home in Alexandria is modeled after a Charleston single where the narrow side of the house faces the street.

I love the aubergine walls and ceiling paired with blue and white and lots of blue and white Chinese porcelain. I would love to use this color sometime in my home. Below are some other favorite aubergine rooms with Chinoiserie.

The Chinoiserie Living Room

Celerie Kemble - Architectural Digest

This is one of the prettiest rooms I've seen in a while. Let's look at some of its elements -

*A color palette of pink, coral, blue, gray, black, and green - my favorites
*Lots of pattern
*A zigzag rug
*Velvet
*Chinoiserie wallpaper
*Woodwork painted gloss black
*Gilded brackets with Chinese vases

I love the round settee called a borne settee, a French piece dating back to Napoleonic France. Here is another example below.

Aubergine

Celerie Kemble - Veranda
I love aubergine rooms. My office was aubergine until I decided to change it for a One Room Challenge and lightened the deep purple to a pale lavender.

The collection of blue and white Chinese porcelain in this Celerie Kemble room really pops against the deep walls and floor. The console and mirror are antiques. The lamps are of course Christopher Spitzmiller. The sconces are Ralph Lauren Home. The pendants are Vaughan. The fabric on the chairs is Holland & Sherry.

More aubergine and Chinoiserie inspiration.

Saturday Inspiration

So many things to love in this living room by Celerie Kemble -

*Lovely curved back tufted sofa in white - I love a white sofa - so timeless and versatile
*Lots of pillows
*A touch of leopard
*Symmetry with lots of pairs
*Stripes
*Blue and white Chinese porcelain
*Abstract art
*Sisal layered with an antique Oriental rug
*Flamestitch
*Gorgeous blue and coral palette
*Matchstick blinds layered under the curtains
*Pagoda lampshades

I like it all but the coffee table which I don't like used here. What about one of these Chinoiserie ones instead?

Saturday Inspiration - Artichokes & Chinoiserie

Celerie Kemble
Isn't this a great space by Celerie Kemble?  I am wild about the mix of the Chinoiserie white altar console table, pagoda mirror, grasscloth walls, and orchid with that crazy good pair of orange artichokes. With the seaweed art and the basket, the whole thing has a great Chinoiserie meets Hollywood Regency meets Coastal vibe.

Stripes and Greek Key

Celerie Kemble
I love stripes and I adore Greek key, but never thought of combining the two. The circus tent canopy bed and grasscloth walls are fabulous as well.

Chinoiserie 2012 - The Entryway

Celerie Kemble
I love the lacquered walls, the skirted table, and the way the Chinoiserie elements of the pagoda and the pair of double gourd vases are reflected in the mirror.

The Chinoiserie Love Letter

Email is wonderful for many things, but not for that perfect love letter to be tucked away and cherished for a lifetime. For that, choose gorgeous Dempsey & Carroll Chinoiserie themed stationery worthy of your words. Three of these limited edition sets are part of a collaboration with Schumacher. Choose from Chiang Mai Dragon in the aquamarine colorway, Chenonceau in a mixed boxed set of five different colorways, or Imperial Trellis in a mixed boxed set of five colorways. I also love the limited edition Bamboo Border by Celerie Kemble.

Orchids for Valentine's Day

For the lover of Chinoiserie, a beautiful bouquet of orchids or a potted orchid would make a lovely Valentine's Day gift. Orchids are graceful, elegant, sophisticated, and long-lasting. A perfect symbol of your love. Above, a stunning use of orchids by Celerie Kemble and make sure you notice my favorite loop chairs.

Fabulously French-note the wonderful use of a champagne bucket as a cachepot.

A lovely bouquet of orchids.

Chinoiserie Living Room Banquettes

Banquettes have migrated from your favorite place to sit in a restaurant, to the breakfast room/eat-in kitchen to the dining room. Now banquettes are popping up in the living room and with good reason. They are a space saving way to create a second seating area perfect for reading, a cup of coffee, a cocktail, a light meal, hors d'oeuvres, conversation, and especially for entertaining. Here are some wonderful examples, each, of course, with a Chinoiserie influence. Above, the Banquette Room of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Paris, 1946.

Celerie Kemble

I would love to do this corner striped tufted banquette in my own living room.
