A Valentine's Day Vignette

Carolyne Roehm

I love this vignette and it would be so pretty to do with Valentine's Day coming up on a fireplace mantel, sideboard, or chest.

Holiday DIY

Lantern Vignette

Temperatures dipped into the fifties overnight and summer is finally over here - hallelujah! Cooler days ahead. It has me thinking of Christmas decorating.

Are you looking forward to decorating for the holidays? I certainly am. I bet most of us have metal lanterns - I have quite a few at CCC. This is so darling - create a little holiday vignette. Miniature trees like these can be found at places like Target, HomeGoods, and below.

Vignette

Danielle Rollins

A lovely vignette in the Palm Beach home of Danielle Rollins. It includes so many of my favorite things. A blue and white Chinese vase is filled with palm fronds from the garden.

A Coastal Vignette

Emily Painter Interiors

This is such a beautiful vignette in this bedroom. It would be wonderful in a dining room or entryway as well. It has a great coastal vibe but would work anywhere you live. Want to duplicate this in your own home?

A Tropical Vignette

Paolo Moschino

I love everything about this vignette. Slipper chairs are by far my favorite chairs. Elegant, low profile, and so comfortable. My favorite chair at CCC is a vintage signed Baker chair with goose down cushions.

Foliage Arched Mirror High/Low

Furlow's Folly

I posted this beautiful vignette a couple of weeks ago with pieces from the collection of Furlow Gatewood and John Rosselli including decorative painted hall chairs, pedestals, tables, consoles, and jardinières.

Candles & Cold Throw

Tory Burch

Does anyone else have very special candles that you use as decor and wouldn't think of burning? I definitely have several candles that will never see a match.

Styling the Chinoiserie Vignette

Mark D. Sikes

The same antique chinoiserie chest, styled in a myriad of ways in his Hollywood Hills home over time, by the extraordinary Mark D. Sikes. Do you tend to leave things once you are happy with the styling, or are you one to change things around all the time?

Chinoiserie Vignette

Gracie Studio

Beautiful balance here with the sideboard, sconces, and mirror. Note the matching chandelier reflected in the mirror. The candlesticks mimic the branches in the chinoiserie Gracie wallpaper as does the sideboard.

British Colonial

Serena Crawford

Here's an intriguing idea for that British Colonial/Out of Africa vibe. Use stacked antique trunks as a side table topped with a blue and white Chinese lamp. My mother had a gorgeous vintage Louis Vuitton steamer trunk that she used as a bedside table.

A Chinoiserie Vignette

Mark Sikes

Such a pretty vignette with its handpainted chinoiserie wallpaper, black and gold Chinese chest, a lovely floral arrangement, and that shell mirror. The mirror is sensational with its aged antique glass. I would love a beautiful antique shell piece for my home. Sanibel Island which is quite close by is known as one of the world's best shelling beaches.

A Chinoiserie Vignette

Charlotte Moss

Many of us were intrigued yesterday by my photo of the living room with lighting fixtures with perplexing pink cords. A commenter mentioned a similar fixture and cord in a Charlotte Moss room. I thought it would be fun to post the room. Here it is - of course done right as one would expect from Charlotte Moss. Another commenter pointed out that the pulley system was used to clean the glass and replace the candle.

Note too the impeccable use of pattern. Most people would not think to put chinoiserie panels on a wallpapered wall, but here it works beautifully. And no white outlet covers here! LOL. I love the fluted blue and white ginger jar atop the etagere.

That upholstered chaise is wonderful - the perfect spot to read or catch a power nap.

Fu Dog Rules

James Michael Howard

Mr. Howard posted this stunning vignette on Instagram and queried whether the fu dogs on these ginger jars are supposed to be facing forward or facing each other? I for some reason previously always had them facing each other, but now prefer to have them facing forward. I am sure I have read that they should never be facing away from each other. What do you do? The Rules of Chinoiserie - LOL.

Scenes from Sarasota

One of my palm trees

It is such a gorgeous day here in Florida and I have the morning all to myself while golf guy is out - you guessed it - golfing. So has your guy stopped shaving because of quarantining? Mine has and he looks like a bad version of Ernest Hemingway.

I feel like taking a few photos of my home to share with you. Hope you enjoy.

The Skirted Table

Amanda Lindroth

I am a sucker for a great skirted table, and I especially like the styling of this one with its pair of oversized blue and white ginger jars, a pair of blue and white brushstroke lamps, the gorgeous painted floor, a pair of framed botanicals, coral, a potted orchid, a dramatic mirror, and a fiddle leaf fig. There is a lot of symmetry going on here, but enough asymmetry that to me it is a nice balance. BTW, skirted tables are great for extra storage.

I love those Bunny Williams double gourd brushstroke lamps, but they retail for over $1,000 each - I got this one at HomeGoods for $30.00.

Florida Vignette

My Home

I am really enjoying putting my things together in new ways in the Florida house. Above is a skirted table styled in my new family room and below in the old family room. The 10 foot ceilings in the Florida house definitely make everything look better!

Florida Chinoiserie Chic

Chad Hoeft Designs - Palm Beach Home and Decor

Another stunning Florida vignette I have been saving in my Florida File. The classic Chinoiserie wallpaper is Chinese Lattice by Bob Collins and Sons, a favorite of mine. I love the pair of Chinese ginger jars paired with the scallop seashell sconces and the coral.

Stripes & Chinoiserie

Useful Home Decor
I love combining stripes and Chinoiserie, but invariably the stripes I am referring to are a striped rug or striped fabric. I point out how stripes tend to ground things. I really like the blue and white Chinese porcelain vignette here with a striped vase. So pretty!

Chinoiserie Vignette

Society Social
Love this vignette in a Society Social showroom - a framed Chinoiserie panel, a gilded faux bamboo lamp, and a gold and pink velvet X bench - so pretty!
