A Chinoiserie Vignette

OKA

This is such a pretty vignette mixing lots of patterns and warm fall colors. Note the patterned lampshade on the patterned lamp base.

Old School Chinoiserie

Lisa Henderson Interiors - Coastal Living

I think you will find this home quite interesting. This newly decorated Palm Beach townhome is featured in the Spring 2023 Coastal Living, but it looks like it could have been done anytime in the last forty years. This is an excellent example of timeless, old school chinoiserie with wonderful chinoiserie fabrics, color, wicker, blue and white Chinese porcelain, Chinese garden stools, grasscloth, all with a Florida vibe.

This sophisticated but fun daughter's bedroom in pink and green features two Quadrille patterns - Tulip Multicolor and Lyford Background.

The Chinoiserie Bedroom

Shelley Johnstone - Frederic Magazine

This is another lovely room in interior designer Shelley Johnstone's Naples, Florida condo - the master bedroom. We previously looked at the dining room. I find it both beautiful and instructive on how to create a chinoiserie bedroom that is classic yet modern. Let's look at some of the elements.

Patterns abound here - I count five that we can see in this shot alone. What makes it work is that the color palette is soft and harmonious and the patterns are largely chinoiserie florals making it feel like a garden.

I see the Rattan book on the side table - I just bought that for myself. Can you make out any other titles on her bedside table? LOL. I love peeking at what books people have. Here it is on my vintage wicker elephant in my foyer.

A Chinoiserie Vignette

Charlotte Moss

Many of us were intrigued yesterday by my photo of the living room with lighting fixtures with perplexing pink cords. A commenter mentioned a similar fixture and cord in a Charlotte Moss room. I thought it would be fun to post the room. Here it is - of course done right as one would expect from Charlotte Moss. Another commenter pointed out that the pulley system was used to clean the glass and replace the candle.

Note too the impeccable use of pattern. Most people would not think to put chinoiserie panels on a wallpapered wall, but here it works beautifully. And no white outlet covers here! LOL. I love the fluted blue and white ginger jar atop the etagere.

That upholstered chaise is wonderful - the perfect spot to read or catch a power nap.

Mixing Chinoiserie

James Farmer

Lots of chinoiserie patterns (and other patterns) are going on here, but it all works, doesn't it? And I am generally not a fan of colored lampshades, but these green are quite fresh and lovely used here. The wallpaper is Schumacher.
