The Banquette

Collins Interiors

I  love a great banquette. I would spend all my time here, eating, reading, working on the computer, perhaps even for naps. A nap may in the cards today. I spent the entire day in the garden yesterday, supervising my gardening crew of eight guys and doing lots of projects myself like cleaning all my blue and white Chinese porcelain - I have eight Chinese garden stools and lots of ginger jars and fish bowls in the garden, as well as cleaning all my urns for replanting today.

Palm Beach Style

John Buckley - Veranda

I  love this chic spot in this Jupiter, Florida home. The photograph is Slim Aarons' "California Garden Party". The pillows are Fortuny and Sue Fisher King. The center pillow is "Venetian Alligator." Such a fun Florida touch.

Tropical Red and Green

Amanda Lindroth

Such an interesting space by Amanda Lindroth in this Palm Beach home. Red and green are not normally colors I associate with tropical decor (a rare exception being Alessandra Branca who uses her signature red in their Bahamian retreat).

Bold Beautiful Color

Katie Ridder - House Beautiful

I love this dramatic room - tangerine walls, a corner tufted banquette covered in an exuberant chintz, a unique Chinese garden stool, a gold ceiling, a striking green rug, and a beautifully detailed roman shade.

The day went perfectly yesterday - I have a beautiful new Frame TV and a great sound system. I will post more details and pics tomorrow. I am taking the day off and chilling.

Here is a sneak peek -

Old School/Grandmillennial

Valentino - Architectural Digest

I have saved this photo of Valentino's chateau outside of Paris for ages and I found it this morning and still adore it. This is the winter garden. Check out this other shot below of the same room with that stunning English Chinoiserie mirror. I adore all the Chinoiserie including the Chinese garden stool, ginger jars, figures, framed Chinese panels, the pagoda mirror, and that faux bamboo cocktail table that holds famille rose plates. The fringed banquette in mint green striped silk is to die for. This is so Old School, but is timeless, especially with its grandmillennial style.

The Chinoiserie Dining Room

Amanda Lindroth - House Beautiful

The dining area in Amanda Lindroth's home in the Bahamas has lots of great ideas. A Coventry bench from Ballard Designs and vintage Brown Jordan Chinese Chippendale chairs are nestled around a painted teak table. The large Chinese ancestor art is a wonderful focal point. I love the blue and white batik pillows on the bench, the collection of shells on the table and shell brackets, and the touches of pink. BTW, the Coventry bench from Ballard comes in a ton of fabrics including lots of Sunbrella and is a great way to get a custom banquette look at a very attractive price point. This is a fun space with a tropical Chinoiserie vibe.

Eclectic

Summer Thornton

Such a chic mix - a corner banquette, red shaded swing arm sconces, modern art, and a mid century modern table against Chinoiserie wallpaper.

Michael Maher Design

A stunning blue and white entryway featuring a blue and white palette - walls are Farrow & Ball Parma Gray, love the tufted corner banquette, Audubon prints, amazing wood floor, and of course, the oversized blue and white ginger jar.

Red, White, and Blue

Alessandra Branca
A wonderful red, white, and blue room by Alessandra Branca with a corner banquette. A Chinese garden stool makes a great little coffee table. Note how her use of black adds subtle sophistication to the space.

A wonderful little breakfast room with a lovely color palette of lilac, peach, blue and white. The roman shades are Quadrille Arbre de Matisse in blue and white. Peach is used on the Chinese Chippendale chairs. The banquette is done in lilac. The tulip table holds a collection of blue and white Chinese porcelain.

Yellow and Chinoiserie

Krista Ewart - House Beautiful
Yellow is making a big reappearance this year, and a kitchen or breakfast room is a natural for such a cheery color. The wallpaper here is Clarence House The Vase, an iconic wallpaper that is very hot right now. A Palm Beach lantern and Chinese Chippendale chairs are perfect choices. The black painted floor makes for a great contrast. The built in banquette adds storage space.
