The Chinoiserie Bathroom

Carla Fonts Hrncir - Luxe Interiors

This wonderful bathroom features lots of Chinoiserie including a pagoda bamboo mirror, Greek key sconces, a monogrammed pagoda guest towel, and a darling blue and white Chinese porcelain monkey. I have a very similar pair that I love that I found at Goodwill for $11.00. Wallpaper is Schumacher's Feather Bloom by Celerie Kemble, a very lovely sisal.

Here are mine in my breakfast room.

Blue and White

Mark D.Sikes
Lots of blue and white Chinese porcelain anchor this room. I love the smaller blue and white rug layered over the sisal and the inlaid bone mirror as well.

Sisal, Seagrass, Jute & Chinoiserie

One project I am planning in my own home for this fall is replacing the carpet in the lower level. The carpeted areas include stairs, a hallway, the family room, my office, my dressing room, and a sitting room. I had one of those moments of enlightenment yesterday and decided to carpet it all in seagrass. I absolutely love the combination of the textural, neutral, organic, natural fiber rugs/carpet with Chinoiserie. The seagrass will also be perfect for layering other rugs I want to use like my Ben Ourain in my office. Here are some great examples and I have many more in my new Pinterest board on the subject here. Have any of you used sisal, seagrass, or jute as wall to wall?

The Chinoiserie Stair Runner

I am taking a pause today from my One Room Challenge Chinoiserie Series to tell you about the next project in my house I am working on. I have decided to tackle my entryway. The painter is coming next week. I have found a stunning pair of Chinoiserie sconces and some wonderful things for the walls. I am now zeroing in on the stair runner. I have been thinking about a sisal stair runner, but have read that dogs can get their nails caught running down the stairs. Isabella has vetoed the idea. This sisal dragon tail stair runner by Barry Dixon with nail head trim is sensational though isn't it? I am also toying with the idea of a black and white Greek key runner like the bottom photo, but sans cat.

This bedroom with its white walls, white bedding, white headboard, white Chinese garden stool, and neutral sisal carpet gets a real wow factor with the addition of navy blue and white Chinoiserie toile.
