The Chinoiserie Entryway

Lindsay Coral Harper - Traditional Home

Wow - this is sensational. Three foot tall peonies on a poppy ground Chinoiserie wallpaper and a gallery wall combine in this petite but statement entryway. The lantern is by Circa Lighting. Wallpaper is Gracie Studio. That fabulous bird sculpture must be a piece of hers - I've seen it pictured in other rooms she has done. This was from a 2018 Charleston show house.

The Blue and White Entryway

Mark D. Sikes - House Beautiful

This two story entryway by Mark D. Sikes is a dream come true for the lover of blue and white Chinoiserie. The wallpaper is China Seas, the blue and white striped rug is Elizabeth Eakens, the chandelier is Visual Comforts. Besides the bamboo motif wallpaper, the Chinoiserie elements include a blue and white Chinese garden stool, a pair of pagoda shaped lanterns, a blue and white Chinese ginger jar, and a blue and white Chinese vase. I would have left the shades off the chandelier - looks a little dated to me.

Chinoiserie touches include a blue and white Chinese lamp, a pair of blue and white Chinese garden stools, and a blue and white fern filled planter.

Sikes brings the garden indoors with tulips, a fern, and a massive moss topped basket with a large palm.

120 Items Every Beautiful Home Should Have

House Beautiful

House Beautiful did a great piece on the 120 items that every beautiful home should have and I was so delighted how many are Chinoiserie!!! A large percentage are the icons of Chinoiserie and starting today we will look at them.

Number one is a dramatic foyer and as you can see that they featured a foyer with Chinoiserie wallpaper. Whether your foyer is large or small, Chinoiserie wallpaper is a wonderful way to create drama and elegance.

Here is a foyer also with green Chinoiserie wallpaper on a smaller scale but just as beautiful.

Blue and White Chinoiserie

U.K. House & Garden
Here is a charming blue and white vignette, very British with its blue and white Chinese umbrella stand, blue and white striped umbrella, and blue and white floral festoon/balloon shade. I have always loved this window treatment and it has never gone out of style in England, although here the roman shade is considered more modern. The black and gold Chinese lamps and black and gold mirror ground the space.
