Setting the Spring Chinoiserie Table

Chefanie Blue Linen Fan Placemats

Spring will be here before we know it. What would be prettier for Spring for setting the chinoiserie table than these blue linen fan placemats with your bamboo flatware and your blue and white patterned china?

Hydrangeas

CCC

I love hydrangeas in the garden, but they are unfortunately not fans of the heat of South Florida. Happily, beautiful cut hydrangeas are always available at my Publix.

Gorgeous Placemats for the Holidays

Delft Blue Reversible Wipeable Placemats

Happy Halloween! It will be 85 degrees here today -  not very fall-like. And of course no fall foliage. I really do miss the seasons. Snow? Not so much. One of my girlfriends down here flew up to DC yesterday and called me and said she was freezing. I think it was in the seventies - LOL.

Wicker Placemats/Chargers High/Low

Wicker Spiral Placemats

Wicker placemats are a great look for setting the table in spring and summer. They are perfect for the Easter table, reminiscent of wicker Easter baskets.

Raffia Placemats High/Low

Tory Burch Raffia Placemats

I have loved these Tory Burch raffia placemats for ages. They look wonderful with blue and white, faux bamboo, and chinoiserie china patterns and with bamboo flatware. They are fabulous for summer table settings and in places like here in Florida all year round. They give your table such a beachy island vibe. They can be used as placemats or as chargers with or without a tablecloth.

Setting the Table with Style

La Corallina Placemats

I am a big fan of wood and cork placemats - I have quite a few sets. I love how easy they are -  no laundering and ironing like with cloth placemats and they are very durable. All they require is a quick wipe down. I think these are especially attractive and they are even on sale. These coral ones definitely have my name written all over them. This company is Italian - hence the names.

When Life Gives You Lemons

Citrus Garden by Schumacher - Quintessence

When life gives you lemons, my favorite tip is to order the lobster tail.

Schumacher Citrus Garden by Josef Frank is an iconic archival pattern created in 1947. This charming and whimsical pattern was drawn entirely by hand. I have always been enchanted by the way it plays so well with chinoiserie. I especially love it paired with blue and white Chinese porcelain.

Chinoiserie Outdoors

Veranda

This wonderful outdoor space features trelliage in a beautiful blue for al fresco dining styled with lots of chinoiserie. Note the pagoda on the console, bamboo flatware, and chinoiserie china. I always get questions on choosing bamboo flatware. There are lots of choices out there. For a great look at a great price, I love Cambridge Silversmiths that comes in natural and in black. It is available everywhere (Amazon, Walmart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, etc. for about $27.00 for a set of 20. I've had mine for years.

I also really like the chargers - I have a collection of wicker and raffia chargers and I love them for a summer, beachy, casual, tropical vibe. Here they have layered it with a pretty linen placemat - another great idea.

Amanda Lindroth Placemats

I ended up ordering the Amanda Lindroth placemats in all three colors - coral, blue, and green. They will be great for casual meals in the breakfast room, the lanai, or at the breakfast bar.

I found this piece of art on my Samsung art subscription - it is a cross between tropical and chinoiserie and the colors are great in the bedroom. You can save anything you like in your art collection and change it out in a second.

I love this AL styling of seashells in one of her island trays. I really like these matte white seashells. Sanibel Island not far from me has some of the best shelling in the world.

Raffia Placemats High/Low

I posted recently about these very chic Tory Burch raffia placemats that are quite fab, but are $198 for a set of 4 which is a bit cray cray if you ask me. I set out to see if there are alternatives at a more sensible price point.

Another view of the Tory Burch placemats

The bad news is these are indeed pretty unique and I did not find any very similar. The good new is I found a few that are in the same genre that I like as well at great prices. See what you think.

These coral spiral woven placemats from Amanda Lindroth are $16.99 for a set of four. They are also available in blue or green. I think getting these is a no brainer.

I found these on Etsy and love them. They too are available in various colors. They are $18.00 each with free shipping on orders over $45.00. If you google raffia placemats on Etsy there are other sellers as well, and lots of different colors including all natural. These remind me a bit of juju hats that I love.

I really like these in all weather wicker by Bunny Williams for Ballard Designs. They are on sale for $44.00 for a set of four. They would be great to use outdoors or inside.

Some great options out there.

My Christmas Dinner Table

Kim Seybert Feather Placemat
I just ordered these fabulous feather placemats from Horchow for the holidays. I think they look like juju hats. I will pair them with my favorite china - my collection of Wedgwood Chinese Tigers. It was my wedding china pattern and I have tons of it and still love it.

Lucite Pagoda Placemats and Coasters

Lucite and Chinoiserie-does it get any better? These Chinoiserie placemats and coasters designed by Arianna Fioratti-Loreto each have a different fantasy Chinoiserie landscape scene including pagodas. They are hand etched in Italy. Set one fabulous Chinoiserie table with these!
