I am a big fan of wood and cork placemats - I have quite a few sets. I love how easy they are -  no laundering and ironing like with cloth placemats and they are very durable. All they require is a quick wipe down. I think these are especially attractive and they are even on sale. These coral ones definitely have my name written all over them. This company is Italian - hence the names.

This is a beautiful and simple summer table setting with scalloped placemats, peacock plates, wicker wrapped glasses, seashells, and of course - bamboo flatware. Easily 90% of the tables settings I happen upon use bamboo flatware - I use mine every day. Potted basil in a scalloped orchid basket in lieu of flowers is a fun choice. The orchid basket and wicker glasses are Amanda Lindroth. Who notices something different here?

As a follower of social media, the vast majority of table settings I see use bamboo flatware. I have two sets and use mine all the time. Especially in Florida, my silver flatware seems too serious. But this is an interesting alternative - mixing bamboo and silver for a more formal table setting. I love this idea. The script on the place card made me laugh - at first I thought it spelled "nerd."
