Happy Derby

CCC

Happy Derby! My event last night was great. I have another Kentucky Derby party tonight. Another hat! My money is on Journalism to win but keep your eyes on a horse that was just added when another horse scratched - Baeza in the 20th post position.

Kentucky Derby No-No's

Mark and Graham

Tonight is my Kentucky Derby Wine Tasting & Pairing. The Derby is tomorrow and my favorite horse is Journalism. I used this photo last year for a Derby post and it was so much fun, I thought I would do it again. Who can name the four mistakes in this mint julep photo?

The Kentucky Derby

Mark and Graham

I will be hosting a Kentucky Derby Party this Friday, the night before the Derby, with 30 people coming. It is a wine tasting and food pairing with the wines and foods of the Kentucky Derby.

I have a large collection of hats and fascinators. Since the red rose is the official flower of the Kentucky Derby, I will be wearing a red rose and feather fascinator by my favorite hat designer, Peter Bettley, that I bought on a trip to London.

Today will be a big day for hats with the coronation of King Charles in London and the Kentucky Derby here later today. It is 5 AM and I am up watching the coronation.

This is such a beautiful vignette combining two things I love - chinoiserie and horses.

The Kentucky Derby

Mark and Graham

The Kentucky Derby is coming soon - Saturday May 7th. I love thoroughbred horse racing - I almost married someone who owned race horses and have been to lots of tracks both here and in Europe, but I always especially loved going to the Kentucky Derby. And I love a great mint julep. Can anyone spot a big no-no in the photo above?
