Kips Bay Palm Beach opens this week. When I lived in D.C., I loved going to the showhouses in D.C., Baltimore, and Alexandria. Unfortunately, most are shuttered and a thing of the past.

 This is a pretty blue and white master suite with Thibaut Bamboo Lattice wallpaper at the entrance, a fabulous brass palm lamp, and a Chinese lantern ceiling fixture. It looks like a soft blue grasscloth on the bedroom walls. It's hard to beat the soothing and calming effect of a blue and white bedroom.

The Samsung Frame TV

 I have always disliked the aesthetics of TVs in the home and have never had one in the living room or master bedroom. My late husband had one in his man cave and my daughter had one in her bedroom.

The Samsung Frame TV has changed all that for me. It sits flush against the wall, it has a frame, and when you are not watching TV, it displays art of your choosing from a Samsung subscription where they have partnered with museums and galleries around the world, art you buy and download from places like Etsy or Juniper Home, or your own art or photographs. Above is an abstract I chose as a start from my free trial Samsung art subscription. I chose the white frame - there are several options. 

It also has a built in motion and sound sensor, so it goes dark when nobody is in the room to save energy, and the art pops back up when you re-enter the room. 

There are tons of "how to" videos online as far as installation, but basically, you or your installer can hide the one cord in the wall behind the TV and the small black box which is the brains of the TV in the wall behind the TV, in an adjoining room, or in a cabinet, basket, or whatever beneath. Critical of course, to make it look like a piece of art and easily done. 

Someone asked about a cable box. I stream as do most people I know nowadays, but if you have not cut the cord on cable, one would be best off hiding the TV wire in the wall, but then having a cabinet below to hide the Frame TV box, cable box, DVD player, etc. 

I am crazy about this TV. And I have decided what I want for Christmas - another large one for the great room. And this is also on my Christmas wish list. Those of you who follow me regularly will get this.

I love blue and white Chinese porcelain and hydrangeas. I think they make a perfect combination. These pink beauties I picked up yesterday when I went to Publix for Wednesday Sushi Day.

I ordered the Samsung frame TV yesterday during Amazon Prime Days and got a great deal. I got the 55 inch with the white frame. Some of you have commented that you have this TV - I am super excited about choosing art for it - any tips?

Yesterday morning a commenter jokingly suggested I form the first chapter of HomeGoods Anonymous. Was the person suggesting that I shop at HG too much? So I gave it some serious thought, and jumped in the car and headed to HomeGoods. I found this stunning Barbara Barry lamp and the detailing is wonderful. The lamp shade has a top to diffuse the light, it has a built in dimmer, and is simply quite elegant. It retails for $700 and I got it for $150. Here is a link to one of several stores that carries it.

This is not my last HG post - I love HomeGoods. Just a joke! HomeGoods is my happy place right now. I am not going to restaurants or bars or movies or the theater or parties or entertaining, but I can go to HomeGoods and find something wonderful for my beautiful new home.

Creating a lovely home is an act of faith in the future for me - a future with my daughter visiting, house guests, dinner parties, having friends over, and the like. This is not a pitch for retail therapy, but rather to do what you find joy in, a lot more difficult in these crazy times.

The lamp is going in the master bedroom next to the sofa. Here are a few shots of my bedroom in progress.

An exciting day in dog world yesterday. In the mad rush to get things out of the old house, the pups' dog beds got left behind by the movers. And I have decided to stop calling him GG which I decided is a bit too cute and harmless sounding. Any ideas for a new moniker are welcome. Their new banana leaf beds arrived yesterday. Check out the hot pink piping. They seem to be happy with them. For small dogs, a Euro size (26" by 26") pillow and sham works great and can be easily laundered as needed. These were from Etsy available here. And I love that she is right here in Florida. I love supporting local businesses.

Annie Selke Gold Leaf Pagoda Bed

The master bedroom is now all painted and it is gorgeous - the painters finished late yesterday. The master is quite unusual - it's pentagon shaped with five large windows and overlooks the lanai and the preserves. It has two transoms as well with antique stained glass windows.

The centerpiece will be my favorite piece I own - my Annie Selke gold leaf pagoda canopy bed I purchased years ago at Neiman Marcus and my Heavenly Bed mattress set. It is always dressed in high end sheets like Frette and Pratesi (HomeGoods scores). The room will be all blue and white. There is room for a couch, coffee table, and chairs. I can't wait to start decorating it.

Here is my dilemma. I have never been a fan of a television in the master bedroom. I have read that it is bad for your sleep - too much stimulation before bedtime. I also am not crazy about it visually.

BUT, the master is going to be my retreat and I like the idea of being in bed with the puppies watching HGTV or whatever and playing on the computer. And I am thinking of one of those beautiful Samsung frame TVs. Here is the post I did recently about it. I saw them in person at Best Buy and WOW. Here it is below.

To be honest, I think the reason I did not is because with my husband and now GG, if there were a TV, they would eat and drink in bed watching TV and that is a pet peeve of mine - I love pristine white sheets sans potato chip crumbs and red wine stains.

So my friends, weigh in. What are your thoughts on having  a TV in the master bedroom? Yea or nay? Do you have one in yours and why or why not?
