Many years ago I bought this pagoda curio shelf. I used it for petite decorative objets. A few years ago I converted it into a dollhouse garden folly filled with chinoiserie. It has needlepoint rugs, Chinese porcelain, blue and white Chinese garden stools, antique textiles, all kinds of beautiful things.

Cruciferous? Cruciferous vegetables are a family of plants (Brassica) that includes broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, and arugula. So now we know.

Dodie was an American artisan and entrepreneur and her story is remarkable. Her ancestors helped settle Palm Beach where she taught herself how to mold pottery from lettuce and cabbage leaves.

Legendary hostesses from C.Z. Guest and the Duchess of Windsor to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis collected her signature lettuce/cabbage ware. Mario Buatta's collection sold at auction for $48,000.

Cabbage ware is very popular this season. It is the essence of Spring and is perfect for setting the Easter table.

This is such a pretty table setting with lots of wicker and leaf and lettuce ware. The colors are wonderful. I love setting a beautiful table and this is great inspiration. 

The Chinoiserie Outdoor Dining Space

 We have looked many times at the wonderful living room in the Punta Cana Dominican Republic home of Bunny Williams and John Rosselli. This is the outdoor dining area. In many homes in tropical locations, there is no formal dining room and meals and entertaining take place in the outdoor dining space.

I love the limestone dining table, wicker chairs, and antique wrought iron chandelier. I also love the tall leggy palms in blue and white Chinese fishbowls. They are elegant and beautiful and do not take up a lot of visual or actual space. I might borrow this idea for my lanai. All the blue and white Chinese porcelain looks great with the natural and organic elements. Note the elegant lettuce ware centerpiece. Do any of you collect lettuce ware?

I have a miniature version of this etagere I turned into a Chinoiserie dollhouse. How many of you remember that blogger dollhouse debacle?

Lettuce ware has been hot since the sixties with people like the Duchess of Windsor, C. Z. Guest, and Jackie Kennedy Onassis and I know it is a Palm Beach thing as well. Mario Buatta's collection recently sold at auction for $48,000.
