The Navy Chinoiserie Foyer

Bachman Brown Clem - House Beautiful

High gloss trim in Benjamin Moore Twilight is an unexpected choice that works beautifully with the Phillip Jeffries wallpaper and collection of blue and white Chinese porcelain.

The Chinoiserie Entry

Jill Goldberg - New England Home
If you love color and Chinoiserie, this entry is one for you. The walls are covered in a blue Phillip Jeffries grasscloth. The stair runner is leopard. A Bernhardt leather bench is upholstered in spring leaf green. An Osborne & Little fabric covers the colorful bolster. A sea urchin sculpture is a fanciful note. Chinoiserie elements include a beautiful pagoda mirror with bells and a black and white dragon lamp whose lampshade echoes the green of the bench.

Grasscloth

One of my favorite wall treatments for the Chinoiserie room is grasscloth. Green, environmentally friendly, elegant, textural, warm, and sophisticated, it can be made from sea grass, jute, hemp, arrowroot, rush, sisal, or bamboo. It is particularly great in new houses where it gives much needed instant character. Grasscloth comes in every color and can be found screen printed or embroidered in countless or even custom patterns. Interior designers adore the papers of Phillip Jeffries. Above is a room by Meg Braff.
