Beatrice

Mrs. Alice

I came across this photo of a fabulous dog bed with a black and white Japanese Chin. Chins are quite rare in the United States and becoming far rarer as new CDC rules prevent the importation of puppies under 6 months of age. It took me a year to find Bea and she is from Canada (before the ban went into effect). Here is my little girl Beatrice all grown up.

The Pups

Harper & Beatrice

Beatrice, whom I call Baby Bea, turns 6 months old this week. She is on the right - she is getting so tall. She is really calming down - far more cuddly and less crazy and she is so smart. She is completely housebroken, sleeps all night, and loves her sister Harper. They are such good buddies.

Exciting News

CZ's Dogs by Slim Aarons

Exciting news. One week from day, there will be a new baby puppy at CCC. Harper and I are very excited and getting everything ready for her arrival. I am trying to squeeze all my appointments and meetings and such into this next week so that after she gets here, we can just stay in and enjoy her and get her into a routine.

Next on our list from House Beautiful's key pieces for the beautiful home is a pet to enjoy it. Well, I have three dogs and they are "Chinoiserie." The Tibetan Spaniel is from Tibet and the Japanese Chin breed was originally from China.

Genevieve Faure's dog perches on an Oscar de la Renta fretwork chair. Speaking of dogs, this is Beatrice, our new Japanese Chin at 3 weeks, who will be joining our family in October. Our other two dogs shown below, Margot and Izzy, are looking forward to a new playmate.

The Chinoiserie Dog

Our Japanese Chin puppy Margot has her own wardrobe rack with miniature hangers to house her growing wardrobe.

Here she is in one of our favorites - her Ralph Lauren trench raincoat lined with pink and green rep striped tie silk. You can find it here.

She is also so cute in her C. Wonder quilted jacket. It is available in green, hot pink, and navy and can be monogrammed. In the photo of her wardrobe rack at top you can see it in the pink.

Here are some ideas for Margot's Christmas outfit -

Blue and White & The Chinoiserie Chic Dog

Here is a new photo of our Japanese Chin Margot, who is now 4 months old. She is sitting on her favorite piece of furniture, a miniature chaise that was once in my daughter Kate's nursery. It is upholstered in a vintage Brunschwig & Fils fabric called "English Leopard" circa 1974 from their Winterthur Collection. I have paired it with a navy Greek key pillow.

Life with Margot

Many of you have asked for an update on our new Japanese Chin puppy Margot. She is doing great, eating and sleeping well and getting along with her big sister Izzy. An interesting fact about the Japanese Chin is that although it is famous for its importance to Japanese royalty, it originated in China. So Margot is very Chinoiserie Chic!

I also managed to finish my garage makeover and hope to take some pictures of it soon. My daughter Kate moves in a week, so we are knee deep in getting her packed. Life is crazy busy but wonderful. We are even having gorgeous, unseasonably cool weather here in DC. Life is good.
