Peach Fuzz |
Pantone has chosen Peach Fuzz as its color of the year. Their description of this color strikes me as quite amusing word salad -
"PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It's a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.
In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless."

I did a post in 2020 I called The Question of Peach. Read it here. Here is a portion of it -
According to House Beautiful, peach is one of the colors to be avoided in your home.
"Even though it was popular in the '60s, today this color quickly dates a house. And when it comes to color psychology, (interior designer Heather) Humphrey says it's uplifting in small ways (like home accessories), but is mood-crushing when it covers too big of a surface."
So I will not be painting any rooms peach. But I do love coral, which is perhaps a kissing cousin of peach as well as apricot which is a pinky peach. I think the key to using peach, if you like it, is using it, as Heather Humphrey said, in small ways as accessories in your home or wardrobe.
Here is a great example by Summer Thornton.
A wonderful little breakfast room with a lovely color palette of lilac, peach, blue and white. The roman shades are Quadrille Arbre de Matisse in blue and white. Peach is used on the Chinese Chippendale chairs. The banquette is done in lilac. The tulip table holds a collection of blue and white Chinese porcelain.

And I would love any of this Estelle glassware in their Coral Peach Pink -

Reminds me of the 70's! Very dated!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I find this particular shade a little cloying, I actually love this family of colors, and I think many of it's softer shades are very flattering. They could have chosen a different name for it though. "Peach Fuzz" sounds sort of silly to me.
ReplyDeleteToo close to flesh colored!
ReplyDeleteLove the color but don’t think it is for my home.
