This week we are doing a series on dressing rooms over at Style Redux. The dressing room is especially well suited to Chinoiserie design elements. Here is some inspiration. Above, the famous Chinoiserie dressing room of the Duchess of Windsor with its Chinese Chippendale etageres.

I love those bamboo frames and prints! My mother framed 2 water colors of geishas, painted by her best friend and framed the with bamboo frames. I believe this was the beginning of the "love affair" for me. I bandied your blog about in mine, yesterday, I just love it so much. Thanks for the great posts!

ReplyDeleteCC-Thanks-I collect antique camellias.
ReplyDeleteTheresa-Isn't that the coolest touch?
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful post and one to aspire to with our dressing-areas that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI too have camellia pictures in my house- ones that my great-grandmothers painted (as well as their various magnolias, birds, lowcountry landscapes) and treasure these. Camellia's are to me like peonies: elegant, feminine and ever-so-perfect whatever the setting...
Enjoying your blog!
Best, Lachlan
Kit-I have quite a collection of antique camellia botanicals all over. I think they're so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLa Dolfina-I think it's a perfect combination.

ReplyDeleteI'm so enjoying your emphasis on Chinoiserie- such wonderful ideas, information and illustrations about it! We have a few Korean antiques from a great aunt & uncle's travels that I decorate with which I love but one day, I'd really LOVE to do a whole lot more Chinoiserie stylin' here around the house. One day.... ;)
Lachlan-Thanks so much. I'm coming over now!
ReplyDeleteLove the gold swoop!
ReplyDeleteJill-And on de Gournay-how fabulous!
