Halloween at CCC

CCC

I love decorating for Halloween. I received my John Derian black weeping willow from Target yesterday and it joins my Target skull pineapples. So fun!

My raffia pumpkins from Target -

A glimpse of the breakfast room -

I love my blue pumpkin - I would like a couple more, but this is the only one that I have found so far. I got it a couple of weeks ago and there is zero deterioration to date. One trick I read to prevent rotting is to clean it with a Clorox or antibacterial wipe which I didn't have, so I washed it with soap and water and rubbed it down with hand sanitizer - LOL. True story.

  1. Spooky! Halloween decorations are so much fun!
To preserve live pumpkins, I have used clear spray paint in the past. That worked well for me.
    Cheers!

  2. A Queensland Blue pumpkin. Unlike those orange pumpkins that you hollow out and decorate, they are excellent eating pumpkins. After Halloween, don't throw it away. Make sure that you eat it. We Aussie love to bake pumpkin to have with a roast leg of lamb. You don't have to peel it, just cut it into wedges and toss it in olive oil, with a crunch of pepper and a sprinkle of salt. Alternatively, make it into ginger and pumpkin soup by cooking a chopped up leek in butter, grate some fresh ginger, and add the peeled and chopped pumpkin. Cover with a good chicken stock, or vegetable stock if you are vegetarian, and cook till soft. Blitz into a puree and add some cream and some freshly grated nutmeg. Being a Queensland Blue, you could always bake Flo's Pumpkin scones (Biscuits to you), or roast the pumpkin without the pepper and salt but a sprinkle of brown sugar, puree the cooked pumpkin and freeze to use in pumpkin pie for your Thanksgiving feast. It should keep whole like that for a few more weeks as it has it's stalk still on it. Enjoy your taste of Australia. BTW, you can wash the seeds and plant them next year if you have space in the back of your garden. They are easy to grow and usually will grow out of the compost if you have one and have thrown the seeds into it!

  3. Looks great. Thanks to you I bought the John Derian for Target table runner. It's spooktacular in grey shades with pops of lime green and turquoise. I don't do orange. Anyway, it looks amazing with my ikat blue and green Williams Sonoma for Schumacher finds!

  6. OMG, I love your raffia pumpkins from Target! My cats would love them too, and would probably play soccer with them. The blue pumpkin next to the blue and white chinoiserie porcelain is beautiful.

I got my blue pumbkins at Michael's. I also favor velvet pumpkins on my dining room table. I got a few in Michael's and some on ESTY.
