Amanda Lindroth DIY

Amanda Lindroth

I find this Bahamas master bedroom by Amanda Lindroth very intriguing. The headboards look to be a pair of twin wooden headboards that one could easily source second hand and paint in a coral pink and create a king headboard. So too, the bench at the end of the bed does not appear to be a bench at all but rather three chairs painted a matching coral pink. One could easily substitute stools for the chairs which would be much easier to find.

  1. When using an antique headboard(s) we are always challenged to find the right frame to attach them to-so that they don't wobble and are the right height. If anyone has a source for such a frame, please let us know. It would be a frame that various kind of headboards could easily be attached to.

    1. It seems like an antique dealer could help you out with that.

    2. I had a similar struggle with a beautiful, but heavy headboard. In the end I attached it to the wall with brackets at the exact height I wanted. An unexpected bonus is that it doesn't creak as antique headboards often do.

    3. I agree with the comment - attaching to the wall with French cleats works beautifully.

  2. I have an antique headboard that's an odd size and I had it bolted to the wall. The mattress and box springs then went on a standard bedframe that isn't attached to anything. It's actually handy when you want to move the mattress from the wall to dust behind it.

  3. Pieces like that are my favorite kind. Creative, one of a kind and sometimes very personal if you happen to use something you already have and incorporate it into something entirely different.

  4. To attach the headboard to the wall, try using a French cleat. I did this recently as I had a new custom upholstered headboard made. It is quite substantial and has some good depth to it. The standard bed frame is just pushed up to the mounted headboard. There is no banging on the wall or wobbling. I totally recommend!
