January Organizing

De Gournay

Once I take down my Christmas decorations, I always turn my attention to some January organizing at CCC. A favorite project (since I am obsessed with china), is cleaning out my china cabinets.

A Classic Returns

Leather Handle Katahdin Boat and Tote

L.L.Bean has brought back its iconic Katahdin Boat and Tote with leather handles. Made in Maine, the canvas is the same rugged 24 ounce heavy duty cotton canvas used in the Original Boat and Tote. The leather handles are the same premium leather used in their Bean Boots.

Garage Project

Sherwin - Williams Extra White SW 7006

My only remaining project at CCC was a little garage sprucing up and reorganizing. Yesterday I had the garage painted in Sherwin - Williams Extra White in semi - gloss.

The Epiphany

Downton Abbey

Today is the Epiphany and it's also going to be a rare rainy day here in South Florida. So it's a perfect day for me to take down my Christmas decorations.

I was brought up that you leave the tree up until the Epiphany. I have always loved the tradition of it and that it extends the season.

Once I take my Christmas decorations down this coming weekend, I am looking forward to some January organizing at CCC.

A favorite project (since I am obsessed with china), is cleaning out my china cabinets.

Wicker Trays

Amanda Lindroth

I have gotten so many interior design ideas from Amanda Lindroth whose style is so perfect for my Florida beach house CCC. Perhaps one of my favorites is using wicker trays for organizing. I have five of her Island Trays pictured above. I have them in various colors and sizes - one on my beside table, one for keys, one in my laundry room, one on my bar, one in my powder room. They make everything look so organized and purposeful.

January Organizing with Chinoiserie

Mark & Graham

January is a perfect time of year for both organizing your home and for a little refresh. Mark & Graham is having a great weekend sale and I have put together some chinoiserie decor favorites. Included are lots of trays and catchalls. These are wonderful tools for organizing - they make items look organized as opposed to messy. (And many Dana Gibson picks).

Are your kitchen towels in disheveled stacks in a kitchen drawer? Here is a much better way to organize them and some ideas for upgrading your kitchen towels as well. (Turn your tattered ones into rags for cleaning and polishing projects).

January Organizing - Fridge Envy

Last week I posted a sneak peek of my January organizing series with a post on properly storing your fine china. Click here if you missed it. Then we looked at storing your Christmas decorations so they are safe and sound - click here.

All these posts are projects that are designed to be easy and budget friendly, but important elements in having a beautifully organized home. Today we are looking at some refrigerator organization tips.

January Organizing & a Candle Steal

Carolyne Roehm - One King's Lane

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. One of my passions is china - I absolutely adore fine china and I use it every day. I am very meticulous about caring for it safely and properly. I know the new year is a few days away, but with cold temps outside, January is the perfect month for indoor projects like organizing your china. Here is a sneak peek at some home organization posts I have planned for January.

Garage Organization

Apartment Therapy

This week I worked more on my garage organization, and it is so empty I started thinking about getting a second car. I would keep my Audi, but get a small fun car for running around doing errands and for the beach. The news reports are true about dealerships having no inventory. In fact, the business model has changed with some manufacturers where you order your car as opposed to buying it off the lot. I am thinking about a BMW, and that is the case with it, for example. I am in no rush, and I'll get exactly what I want.

The Joy of Organizing

Livy File Box

On my list of To Do projects was to go through files and purge everything no longer needed, including lots of tax files, business files, and such. In the past in NOVA, there were monthly free shredding events in the county where I lived that I would take advantage of. I had always assumed that buying my own shredder would be too expensive, heavy, take up too much space, and such.

Organizing with Style

Copper Rectangular Trays

January and a new year are a great time for organizing your home, and trays are a wonderful organizing tool. Trays make items look purposeful as opposed to messy. I was reading the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living and she featured these beautiful copper trays. They are technically designed for plants, but she uses one to create a mise en place for spices and condiments like salt, pepper, olive oil and vinegar to keep stove side and then move to the table for dinnertime.

Palm Tree Hooks

Palm Tree Hooks

These showed up in my Pinterest feed and they are out of stock on that particular site. I think they would be great for hanging nightgowns or dog leashes or whatever. I will try to source them elsewhere. I love little touches like this that are chic but functional. My master bath has a pocket door, so of course there is no hook on the back of the door as is normal in most bathrooms. The hooks would be fun in my walk in closet for my nightgowns.

This Basket is Having a Moment

Caroline Gidiere

This basket is having a moment for sure, but I think it's becoming a classic for beach house decor and beyond. I am thinking of getting one myself.

It can be used for anything you choose and never looks more chic to me than under a console table.

Use it for beach towels, media components, books, laundry, toys, blankets, shoes, pillows, in a mud room, dog toys - the list is endless. It is wonderful to add an organic and textural element to a spot. I love the way it pairs with Chinoiserie and with blue and white. Here are interior designers going mad over this "it" basket.

BTW, it looks like the Beachcomber from Pottery Barn. Other versions I have seen all look to me like cheap knockoffs.

A follower just emailed me that some of the baskets are from Mainly Baskets Home and are slightly different from the PB. They both come in various shapes and sizes.
