Shun Hikari

My  kitchen mini reno is going absolutely great. I LOVE my new induction range and French door refrigerator. Read all about them here. The dishwasher and island are due soon. Then I will post lots of pictures. Everything is really coming along despite supply line issues.

Kitchen Reno Update & Topiaries in the Kitchen

Mark Sikes - Coastal Living

Exciting news - my new induction range is in and will be delivered and installed next Thursday. And despite being told that my Bosch dishwasher would be 9 to 12 months, it should be here in 2 weeks. Great progress/so exciting. I love when a plan comes together.

The Cutting Board as Kitchen Art

French Country Cottage

I had saved this photo of this stunning kitchen with its blue range, marble topped island, and copper collection. I am especially drawn to the stunning collection of cutting boards - this is kitchen art. Handled cutting boards leaning against a backsplash add a casual elegance that I love. This type is called a French cutting board or paddle cutting board - they are rustic, often made of walnut, pine, or oak. They are used for serving cheese and charcuterie as well as for food prep.

The Blue and White Chinoiserie Kitchen

Mark Sikes - Coastal Living

A strange day yesterday. My painter contacted me that he has been hospitalized with Covid despite being vaccinated and boosted. He is of course in my thoughts and prayers for his full recovery. So my exterior painting is a bit up in the air.

A Mini Kitchen Renovation at a Mini Price

LG Induction Range

Kitchen renovations are of course a very costly project.

"In its annual Cost vs. Value report for 2019, Remodeling Magazine puts the national average for a midrange major kitchen remodel at $66,196 and an upscale major kitchen remodel at $131,510. In the Pacific region (Alaska, California, Washington and Oregon), according to Remodeling Magazine, that same midrange major kitchen remodel jumps to $72,513 and an upscale major kitchen remodel jumps up $11,823 from the national average, to $143,333. Compare those costs to the South Atlantic Region (Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Washington, D.C.) where a midrange major kitchen remodel prices out at $63,387 and an upscale major kitchen remodel is $126,307. The addition of luxury stone or marble countertops, high-end faucets and flooring, a commercial-grade range and luxury faucets can all significantly increase the cost of a renovation." (HGTV)

A Chinoiserie Chic Induction Range

The CC Range

I was looking at appliances yesterday at a big box store to get ideas (not who I will be ordering from) and stopped dead in my tracks when I opened this range. And it is one of the top two induction ranges I was already considering. SOLD!!! Winner winner, chicken dinner.

The Kitchen Runner - Yes or No?

Mark Sikes

Many of my favorite kitchens have runners. Especially with indoor/outdoor rugs that can be washed down with a hose and rugs that can be thrown in the washing machine, this seems a lot more practical nowadays. Oriental rugs with their typically dark colors and patterns hide the dirt, are made to last, and are also great choices.

Appliance Update

Café Appliances in Matte White

As followers of CC know, I am planning on upgrading my kitchen appliances. I have been somewhat distracted focusing on my exterior painting project, so I am still in the research phase on the appliances and very conflicted. You will soon see why....

Organizing with Style

Copper Rectangular Trays

January and a new year are a great time for organizing your home, and trays are a wonderful organizing tool. Trays make items look purposeful as opposed to messy. I was reading the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living and she featured these beautiful copper trays. They are technically designed for plants, but she uses one to create a mise en place for spices and condiments like salt, pepper, olive oil and vinegar to keep stove side and then move to the table for dinnertime.

Projects at CCC

Arnie the Bulldog

As you can see, Arnie the bulldog not only likes blue and white, but ChappyWrap blankets as well. My dogs are likewise ChappyWrap fanatics, and hog the blanket at night. I might need to get them their own. The ChappyWrap Valentine's Day Collection drops today at 10 AM ET. Isn't it darling with all the pink?

Kitchen Island Find

French Kitchen Island

I think I have solved a bunch of my kitchen "mini reno" issues. I actually love my kitchen cabinets, layout, backsplash, and countertops and have decided just to upgrade my appliances as you all know. The other issue was where and how to display my growing collection of Le Creuset and Staub cookware as I posted about yesterday.
