Hill House Home has just launched its Fall Collection that includes some gorgeous chinoiserie pieces. You will recall that the Nap Dress became a huge hit during the pandemic, created as a dress in which to nap, sleep, lounge, Zoom, or go out. It is both incredibly comfortable and extremely flattering. 

The Chinoiserie Dining Room

This is an intriguing dining room by Liz Caan featuring a favorite chinoiserie fabric of mine - Quadrille's Paradise Background in Black on Tint. A farmhouse dining table paired with cane wingback dining chairs is lit by a white and brass ring chandelier. I like the unexpected choice of the pink velvet on the chairs.

I especially like framing textiles. I have framed antique silk chinoiserie pieces and a silk scarf - people frame baby clothes, athletic jerseys, flags, Hermès scarves, doilies, coasters, all sorts of things. When framing textiles the piece is lightly sewn to the mat before framing.

Mario Buatta & An Eye for Color

Mario Buatta - Sotheby's

 I came across these pictures from the Sotheby's auction of the estate of Mario Buatta. Mario was of course a great lover of chinoiserie, but what caught my eye about these are the gorgeous colors. These cabbage boxes are 19th century Thuringian. I wish they had lined up the veins on all of them though - LOL. They did better below.
