The Greek key trim on the roman shades is such a nice detail in this child's room by Palmer Weiss. The color palette of blue, orange, and white is a modern and gender neutral choice.
I have just put up my April Houzz Ideabook with 40 of my favorite picks for the Chinoiserie Chic nursery and child's bedroom. It is all so cute! Below are some of my inspiration boards with Chinoiserie filled rooms for the little ones - I also have a Pinterest board here. You are never too young for Chinoiserie.
You won't want to miss any posts this week. I have a huge announcement on Tuesday, the launch of the One Room Challenge on Wednesday, an exclusive interview on Thursday, and the second edition of Chinoiserie Chic's Fabulous Friday Finds to end the week.
Here are the participants this time in the One Room Challenge -
Navy is a wonderful choice for a child's bedroom, especially combined with Chinoiserie. In the room above, Alessandra Branca pairs navy stripes and a Chinoiserie wallpaper. I love the Tory Burch bunk bedroom just below with the navy and white Greek key. Amanda Nisbet pairs navy with pink and Greek key. In the Miles Redd bedroom, I can't recall whether the striped walls are navy, black, or dark brown, but navy and white stripes would be perfect with the light blue and Greek key. The inspiration board by Parklin Interiors has great ideas for combining navy, raspberry, and Chinoiserie in a sophisticated but fun room. My inspiration board for a navy bedroom would work as a teen boy or girl's room or as a guest bedroom.
In this child's bedroom, Quadrille Paradise Garden takes center stage in the duvet and accent wall. Note the striped roman shade - stripes and Chinoiserie are such a winning combination. Check out my Pinterest board on Stripes and Chinoiserie here. Note too the mint walls - a color that seems to be popping up everywhere. Great space saving ideas also for a small room like the pair of floor to ceiling cabinets flanking the bed and the swing arm sconces. My Pinterest board on The Chinoiserie Child's Room has more great ideas.
For sale for $195 at LIVvintage on Etsy, you could turn this great pair of twin Chinoiserie headboards above into a guest bedroom or child's bedroom like these two beautiful examples below by Jonathan Adler and Barrie Benson.
Two wonderful hand painted Chinoiserie chairs by Meredith Scott on Etsy here. The orange chair is a child's chair and would be absolutely delightful in a nursery or child's bedroom. Start them on Chinoiserie young! For those who have emailed me about the fabric on the bottom chair, I believe it is Schumacher Shantung Silhouette in the colorway Smoke, one of my favorites. Read more about it here.
Isn't this a lovely Chinoiserie child's bedroom? Elegant and sophisticated, yet whimsical, check out the walls, the pagoda lamp, and the desk vignette. This is by Martensen Jones Interiors.
