My second mahjong class was yesterday. I must admit that I am learning more from my free online mahjong sources than the in person classes. Having taught both landscape design and wine classes, I know that being an expert in a subject and being able to share that knowledge with others are two different things.

I highly recommend two excellent free online resources for learning mahjong. I have mentioned the excellent video classes of Southern Sparrow. Her videos break eveything into short and very easy to understand sections. Find them here. And Mahjong 4 Friends is a free app and website where you can play with friends or AI bots with hints, suggested hands, and automatic scoring. Find it here. I was teaching my tablemates things I had learned from these sources. Neither require registering.

At top you can see the tiles are in a Lenox British Colonial bowl. I am using a brass candle holder as a dice holder.
