Fabulous Friday Finds

House Beautiful
This style of desk/console is a wonderful backdrop to Chinoiserie as demonstrated here with the Chinese calligraphy brushes, elephant, and lantern. I have found two fabulous versions of it at great prices.

From Pottery Barn, their nickel and glass Ava Metal Desk priced at $499.

And a wonderful desk from West Elm that is so elegant and well priced - their nickel and glass version of the Glass Cross Base Desk priced at $399. I am in the market for a new desk and I am considering both of these.

Mini Tangerine Tango

The iconic, classic, mid century parson's table is available in a lacquered tangerine for a very chic child's room and is on sale for $89.99 at West Elm. I love this! Perfect for homework, play, or snacks.

Faux Bois

A common conundrum is what patterns combine well with Chinoiserie wallpaper and fabrics. A favorite of mine is faux bois (from the French for false wood). Its subtle organic quality makes it a perfect choice as shown in this gorgeous Chinoiserie dining room by Andrew Raquet with its Gracie wallpaper and Quadrille's faux bois - Alan Campbell's Meloire Reverse on the chairs. Here is a wonderful and very affordable choice - faux bois window panels from West Elm. These would be lovely by themselves or layered under curtains.

Lacquer Trays

From yesterday's post, I love the white lacquer tray filled with books and blanc de Chine. I copied this look in my own home with trays from West Elm. Check them out here.

Nick Olsen

Have you seen Nick Olsen's apartment and interview featuring his use of West Elm parsons tables? I especially love the colors in his bedroom and this wonderful yellow and black Chinoiserie lamp.

The Chinoiserie Dressing Room - The Mirrored Vanity

The Parsons style has become an icon of mid century modern design. Originally created in Paris in the 1930s, it is a classic. West Elm's version is adored by interior designers and design enthusiasts. But did you know that it is now available mirrored? The Parsons Mirror Desk, well priced and stunning, is a great choice for a vanity in the Chinoiserie dressing room. I would pair it with a Philippe Starck Louis Ghost chair.

Saturday Inspiration

Is your decorating style a wonderfully eclectic mix of Chinoiserie, modern, and country? Then you'll love this dining room with its Chinese ancestor portrait, farm table, and yellow metal French cafe chairs. Simple and stunning.

The classic French cafe Marais Chair at DWR for $275.

A well priced alternative-a set of 4 Wrap Dining Chairs from West Elm for $316.
