The Chinoiserie Kitchen

Amanda Lindroth

I fell in love with this kitchen when I first saw it with its mahogany countertops, palm fronds, Cole & Son Palm Jungle wallpaper, and that pair of black wicker elephants. I have looked high and low for the elephants - I want them for my kitchen. I have one of these vintage wicker elephant tables, but I am looking for a smaller version that would work on my kitchen counters.

BTW, the palm fronds are from a Chinese Fan Palm. Every street where I live is named after a palm tree - I live on Areca.

Check out this black vintage wicker elephant bar I discovered while looking around online - I love this! Unfortunately, I already have three bars in my home which is quite enough.

If anybody has ideas on finding a smaller version like the first photo please let me know - the color doesn't matter, as it can easily be painted black.

The Chinoiserie Bathroom

Shophouse Design
I have posted about hundreds of bathrooms and powder rooms, but this is definitely one that everyone loves and keeps asking about. The wallpaper is Cole & Son Fontainebleau, a real stunner, and perfect here juxtaposed against an all white bathroom.

This wallpaper depicts a wonderfully exuberant ‘tree of life,' inspired by the Palace of Fontainebleau outside Paris. Comprising leafy stems upon which are perched a flock of exotic and colourful birds, this wallpaper design is presented in two colourways of rose pinks on duck egg and fuchsia and emerald greens on a neutral ground.

Here it is in the other color way -

A Chic Nook

Such a great little nook - I love the Cole & Son Palm Jungle wallpaper, the black and white toile on the stool, and the handbags hung from hooks - both functional and darling.

Saturday Inspiration - Blue and White

So many of you have asked to learn more about this wonderful blue and white space. It is a butler's pantry created by Kellie Griffin Interiors for the 2013 Atlanta Symphony Decorators' Show House and Gardens. The damask wallpaper is Cole & Son Albemarle Aldwych and the fabulous blue and white Chinoiserie toile window treatment is Brunschwig & Fils' iconic Le Lac. I love the Chinoiserie grandfather clock! I have hunted down more photos of the room to share with you. It's very strange, but almost invariably I love the butler's pantries in these show houses the best and they are often done with Chinoiserie.
