The Chinoiserie Entryway

Much like the living room I posted on earlier today, this neutral and traditional entryway is wonderful with the addition of Chinoiserie - the pair of blue and white Chinese porcelain vases, the pair of Clarence House Dragon Empress pillows, and the Chinese piece of art.

What Chinoiserie Does For a Room

Traditional Home
I think this room is a textbook example of what the addition of a few Chinoiserie pieces does for a room. In this living room, my eye was immediately drawn to the pair of massive Chinese jars flanking the fireplace and the Clarence House Dragon Empress pillows on the slipper chairs and ottoman. Imagine the room without these, way too Phoebe Howard neutral monochromatic for my taste. I haven't mentioned the cutesy arrangement of Chinese plates and seashells on the mantel because it's truly awful.

My Dining Room Reveal

I have wanted for ages to have my dining room wallpapered in a fabulous Chinoiserie paper. Those of you who follow Chinoiserie Chic may remember that a while back a follower emailed me that an Etsy store had 15 rolls of Clarence House Chinoiserie Baroque wallpaper for $150 for all 15 rolls! I bought it and found a talented wallpaper hanger to install it for me who did an absolutely amazing job with this rather difficult untrimmed and unpasted wallpaper. My only other purchase was the beautiful pair of Chinoiserie hurricanes for the dining table. The only thing I have left to do is to cover the dining room chairs in Clarence House Dragon Empress pictured below that I already have in my fabric stash. The total price for this project came in at under $1000!!! I love it-hope you do too. Click photos to enlarge.

Clarence House Dragon Empress

This absolutely scrumptious fabric I won last night on eBay is none other than Clarence House Dragon Empress. You may recall the sofa below in Dragon Empress from Domino's cover. This is Drew Barrymore's office that was designed by Ruthie Sommers. I have a yard in the blue colorway. Enough for a pillow, a stool, or a chair seat. I'm sure when I get it home it will speak to me and tell me where it wants to go. Stay tuned for this fun little project with this ultra luxe Chinoiserie fabric. Finding a snippet of very high end fabric is a great way to elevate your home without the cost of multiple yardage. Be on the hunt.

And from the home of Little Augury. She is a self-proclaimed Dragon Empress addict and has a lovely blog.
