Pink Chinoiserie for Valentine's Day

Chinoiserie Monkey with Parasol Hooked Wool Pillow

With Valentine's Day this weekend, I am in a pink chinoiserie mood (outside of Christmas, I am not a red fan). I'll take pink roses over red any day of the week. Here are some darling pink chinoiserie picks -

Gift Guide - Gifts for the Bed Baby

CCC

I love my bed and love being in bed. I am convinced that part of sleeping well is having a beautifully outfitted bed (i.e. luxuriously comfortable). Here are my favorites. These make great Christmas gifts too. Many are on great Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals - don't snooze on these sales!

Coastal Pineapples

Pineapple Pillow in Turquoise

I love pineapple decor. I find it amusing that when I was in historic homes in Alexandria, Virginia, I always associated pineapple decor with Colonial Williamsburg and decorating traditional homes. It was not until I moved to Florida that I realized pineapple decor is huge in beach houses and tropical decor.

Cheeky Beachy Needlepoint

Furbish

I so love needlepoint. It has had a huge resurgence of late with the popularity of Grandmillenial Style and Coastal Grandmother Style. I have found some wonderful needlepoint pillows that have a cheeky, beachy, modern vibe. These are so fun!

Tory Burch loves needlepoint and often includes pieces in her collections. Several years ago she did a wonderful collection of needlepoint pillows. Tory's father loved to needlepoint and taught her.

Sleep

Slip Silk Sleep Mask

Sleep is on my mind today as I stayed up half the night watching election returns. I also wanted to report back that after using the original Casper pillows for a couple of months now, that I absolutely love them.

Have you noticed that sleep masks are a thing? They are everywhere. They increase melatonin production by removing light sources, important in urban areas. I also think they look very glamorous. I just ordered this beautiful pink striped silk one above.

Do any of you use a sleep mask? One would look very old Hollywood with feather trimmed pajamas like these. Loungewear is of course very hot with quarantining.

Pillows and Pillowcases

Hill House Home

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and is staying home safe and sound today enjoying Black Friday shopping from the comforts of home like me. Speaking of home and Black Friday sales, I wanted to return to the subject of pillows.

You will recall I posted a few weeks ago about making the perfect bed and asked specifically for new pillow suggestions. The majority of commenters suggested the Casper original pillow. They started their Black Friday sale a couple of weeks ago and I immediately ordered two and I love them. They are the perfect balance of soft and firm and work with any sleeping position. I would highly recommend them. Thank you for your recommendations.

I am debating silk pillowcases for them. Silk pillowcases seem all the rage and people can't say enough about how great they are for you hair and skin. I have read several articles including from the very reputable Good Housekeeping that they do indeed reduce wrinkles, bed hair, frizz, and split ends. Any experience or recommendations? This is on my Christmas shopping list for myself because I have been a very good girl this year.

The Perfect Bed

Willams Sonoma Home

Thanks for all the input and ideas yesterday on pillows and beds. I have lots to explore, and I will put something together as well on making the perfect bed. With all of us spending more time at home nowadays, it is more important than ever to have our homes as cozy and comfortable as they can be. The shams above in this wonderful chinoiserie bedroom are the Chambers Cane Embroidery Collection from Williams Sonoma Home and the monograms are Matouk. Are these his and her monograms?

If you have any more ideas on pillows and bed making in general, feel free to add them as comments today.

Kate Spade, Martinique, and an Inspiration Board

I am so excited about Kate Spade's new Martinique pillow, that I created an inspiration board around it. The pillow is faced with the iconic Martinique Banana Leaf made famous at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It is backed in black and white stripes, inspiring me to wallpaper the room in bold black and white stripes. I have used a yellow Jonathan Adler Lampert sofa with two Kate Spade Martinique pillows and a vintage orange Hermes zebra needlepoint pillow. The coffee table is two orange Chinese garden stools from Lilly Pulitzer Home. I love the three pineapple giclees from The Pink Pagoda. If your budget does not include $148 for a pillow, below are some great alternatives for $40 and under. BTW, the Kate Spade pillow is a limited edition with just a few left.

Paule Marrot Feathers Inspiration Board

I have always wanted to do a room using Paule Marrot's iconic work "Feathers" as the focal point. Here I have created a living room with a modern Crate and Barrel Aidan sofa, a pair of antique Chinese garden stools, fretwork pillows from Furbish, a Jonathan Adler pink zebra ruga black marble Saarinen cocktail table from Room and Board, and a pair of Seville chairs from Room and Board inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. I could be quite happy in this living room - feminine but sophisticated, with a mix of periods and Chinoiserie, just my style. To see more of the work of French engraver, painter, and textile artist Paule Marrot (1902 - 1987), visit my Pinterest board here.

A Chinoiserie Christmas - Christmas Pillows

I got into the idea this year of special Chinoiserie Christmas pillows that I just put out for the holidays. This one from Furbish above is being delivered today and I just received the two amaryllis shams UPS about five minutes ago that I had done trimmed in this yummy sorbet pom pom trim.  I'll do a post later today or tomorrow showing them in my home.

Pink and Navy Chinoiserie

Love the combination of pink and navy blue Chinoiserie as much as I do? Group a few of these on a couch or bed to transform the room in minutes. All of these and many more are available from The Pink Pagoda's accessories store.

Bring This Back!

OK Thomas Paul, you need to bring back this Chinoiserie Geisha pillow. Come out with a "Classics Collection" with designs like this you should never have discontinued in the first place.
