Isn't this fun for a Florida Christmas? The tree was delivered yesterday morning and it was up and decorated before noon. And it is dog proof, cat proof, kid proof, and guest proof. All the decorations are unbreakable from the topper that is an Amanda Lindroth mini wicker Birkin basket down to the sheepskin tree skirt and everything in between.
The tree is the 7.5' Noble Fir I posted about before in Slim. Find it here. I decorated it with gold floral stems that are all Florida natives - palm fronds and fern fronds. It is in the foyer and looks amazing at night from outside with my double French doors. And the tree took about an hour to setup and decorate. I had an idea about doing this and it all came together when I was in HomeGoods the other day and they had all of these gold frond floral picks. The great thing with picks is you literally stick them anywhere and easily reposition them - no hooks or anything needed. Here are more pictures -

Always allow about an hour to shape the tree - you can leave spaces for ornaments or fill them in. Fluff out the tree by separating and spreading the branch tips, and gently bending them upward. This will make the tree look fuller and more like a real tree.
After you finish decorating the tree, recheck the tree stand screw and see if it needs re-tightening - the screw can loosen a bit during the decorating process.
If you miss the fresh tree smell there are great candle options. Some favorites -

There are also fir scented ornaments to hang on the tree -

BTW, Publix has roses buy one dozen at $12.99, get the second dozen free right now. Their roses are wonderful. I am looking this morning for roses in red and in white. If you are using glass or crystal vases, I love using cranberries in the vase for the holidays - they look great and act as frogs for keeping the flowers in place. I am hosting a big New Year's Eve party at my clubhouse and will use this idea for centerpieces for all of the tables.

Ocean Spray |
Here are the directions from Ocean Spray -
INGREDIENTS
1 clear glass vase or pitcher
1-2 12-oz. bags Ocean Spray® Fresh Cranberries (depending on size of vase)
1 bouquet of fresh flowers (here we used white Ranunculus)
Water
DIRECTIONS
Start with an empty vase or pitcher. Add 1 or 2 bags of Ocean Spray® Fresh Cranberries (depending on the size of the vase) and enough water to fill vase 3/4 full. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the ends off the fresh flowers at a 45-degree angle. Add cut flowers to vase, arranging as needed.
Replace water daily or as needed, and discard berries when they become soft, which can range from a few days to about a week.
I love using red and white roses at CCC in December and their being on sale this week is an added bonus.

Tree is Florida FABULOUS - only change I would make is to place it in a White FishBowl. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I only have blue and white fish bowls, but will look for a white one.
DeleteI think you'll be pleased - it will set off your Fabulous to FANTASTIC ;)
DeleteOh what fun it is to come to your house for Christmas. The red tree topping the blue and white pagoda, speaks volumes of a decorator with en edge. A+ on that.

Love your tree. Tell me how painted the fronds, please. Did you let them “dry” first?
ReplyDeleteAs I said in the description, I bought them at HomeGoods and they were already gold.
DeleteI misread. I have always loved your blog. Happy Holidays.
DeleteI am a ninny, I think of floral picks as the thin green picks that one attaches to a stem you use green floral tape. I am showing my age…which is old😜
