Decorating for Fall

Thanet House - Southampton

This wonderful home is the Thanet House at 143 South Main Street in Southampton, New York. For those of you who know Southampton, it is right in the heart of the village.

Built in 1913 for the son of Dr. Theodore Gaillard Thomas, who is often credited as the founder of the Southampton summer colony, this imposing brick dwelling was given the name Thanet House. I have seen several current photos of the home and the massive blue and white Chinese "vases" are always in the photos. I wonder if they are brought into shelter in the winter?

In the photo above, the home is decorated for fall and Halloween with mums and pumpkins. Here is another photo I assume in the spring as that looks like an azalea in bloom.

  1. Goodness. Where does one find vases that size? I'm intrigued.
