Creating Tropical Style

Amanda Lindroth

I love the view into the outdoor space filled with potted tropical plants and her signature rattan and bamboo lanterns. Whether you have a balcony, patio, lanai, or porch, this is such a great way to bring beachy island style to your home.

Tropical plants are easily sourced at places like Lowe's and Home Depot, and in colder climates brought indoors in the colder temperatures.

I have a growing collection of rattan lanterns. I have a pair in navy, a pair in celadon, an enormous white one, and several in natural. I have flameless candles in all of them that are operated with a remote (or can be set with their built-in timer). It is so beautiful at night having all my lanterns glowing in the house and the lanai.

I bought this set of 12 battery candles almost three years ago - they are made of real wax and very well priced.

These are the Amanda Lindroth Harbour Island Lanterns - available in different sizes or sets. They are wonderful next to a pool or flanking a front door too.

Here is an interesting idea for entertaining - hanging lanterns from faux palm trees like mine.

I have found beautiful lanterns at HomeGoods in all different sizes and colors at great prices. They are also super easy to spray paint if you like. I love them in sky blue, navy, and white as well as natural.

  2. This is stunning. My master bath in Boca has a similar picture window and I plan to purchase some lanterns. Hope the remote works through the Hurricane glass.
